Reviews for "A Requiem of Euphoric Nihilism"

"Dwole is essentially a one man band consisting of B. Huebner, assisted where necessary by a few assaociates. Following in the footsteps of such luminaries as LYCIA and COIL, DWOLE offers the listener a never ending journey through some of your worst fears and nightmares. With nothing written beforehand, these improvisational pieces take us through the full range of emotion, torturing and teasing with every turn. What started out as an outlet away from his other projects has turned into a masterpiece of luminocity and intensity. A record you return to, time after time, always learning something new, always appreciating the raw emotion pouring from the speakers. Not for the faint hearted, a true work of art.

"What hides behind the strange name DWOLE is a Minneapolis resident by the name of Brian Huebner. Fascinated by the music the likes of COLD MEAT INDUSTRY has been delivering for over a decade, it comes as no surprise that his sonic scenarios are the kind you mother would seriously question your emotional health by. Basically founding on cheesy Horror soundtrack-like synths, occasionally expanded with delayed guitars, samples and the odd rhythm, it isn't like Huebner is breaking any barriers here. Still, he is capable of pulling off little creepy melodies that would fit right into flicks of a certain category. Just about interesting and scary enough to remain in the CD Player, this collection of various tape material is more of A promise of things to come, then a full-fledged product, and should work nicely as an appetizer for you who can't get enough musical darkness. 7 OUT OF 10"

"DWOLE is the mind of Brian Huebner and this is the emotions within the said mind. An obvious influence from IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES at times, only a bit less orchestral and much more personal and emotional. 18 songs make up this disc, all filled with different moods but all great.

"Some albums can require you to listen to them 20 times or more to get a grasp of and you still can't put a description of it into words. This is one of them. One part the apocalyptic soundtrack to an obscure documentary to who knows what, one part sonic mutant of Classical and Noise, one part minimalist, one part full scale dark wave orchestra. What the Fuck?! 'A Requiem of Euphoric Nihilism' is seriously demented. 'Disco Volante' on A lethal dose of Downers. I like it. 88 OUT OF 100"

"I care not for your reality' proclaims B. Huebner, the sole and founding member of DWOLE and he means it. His Full-Length debut is appropriatly titled, and appropriatly illustrated (with stills from a Graveyard.) Inside you will find a troubled, harrowing smear of sounds from the depth of some malign psyche, or so it seems. Hollow voices whisper and scream in a soudscape of bleakness, strong with the pungent odor of boarded up churches and gutted graves. Occasionally the record's gloominess reaches an unlistenable depth, but most of it will chill you to the bones. Apparently all of DWOLE's sounds are improvisational, never written beforehand, an incredible feat considering the cohisiveness in these strange pieces. Keep an eye out for this rising young talent, and/or check him out in his other project WOLFTHORN (COLD COLOURS.) Either way you won't be wanting to listen to "A Requiem of Euphoric Nihilism" unless you don't scare easily. And even then...
