Editing is more than checking
punctuation and grammar, although that is a very big part of
polishing your work. Check that character reaction is present
and consistant and fresh. Look the story over with an eye
toward cause and effect -- every action must trigger a
reaction. The reaction is where emotions are stirred and bonds
are formed between the reader and a character. Look at
descriptions - both as setting and character -- and make sure
it's not dumped in. Make it part of the action. Look at the
plot, and the plot points. Check scene structures and that
every scene not only contributes to the plot but it includes
