Student Handbook
Welcome to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year with you! We have fun activities, trips, and lots of great learning planned for us. This page is designed to cover some of the FAQs of the start of the school year and let you know what's going on too!

What to bring to school
Every day, you need to bring a backpack to school. NOTE: Wheeled Backpacks are not recommended because they do not fit inside lockers and will have to sit in the hallway.
Locker Dimensions are 8" wide by 11" deep.

Clothes
Bring clothes suited for the weather (and kindergarten!). Even though we have art once a week, there are times where we will paint or other messy activities in the classroom or will go for a walk with our buddies, etc.

Tennis shoes are a must for the playground.
Sandals are welcome to be worn in the classroom, just bring a pair of shoes to change into for the playground on those days we don't have P.E.

Gym Shoes are required for the days that we have P.E.

School drop-off & Safety
If you are dropping your student off at school, they can be dropped off in the east or west parking lots anytime after 8:30 (when playground supervision begins) and can go directly to the playground. When the bell rings at 8:45, doors will be opened to let students inside. Our class (room 1) will line up on the sidewalk near the playground on the west side (hospital side) of the building when the bell rings. There is a #1 painted on the sidewalk. Students need a pass to be inside before school starts. If you arrive late, students need to enter through the front doors and after 9:00, need a tardy pass from the office to come into the classroom.

Building doors are locked for the safety of our students. The only door that is open throughout the day is the front door by the office. Please remember to sign in at the office if you are in the building during school hours. STUDENTS ARE INSTRUCTED NOT TO OPEN DOORS FOR ANYBODY. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM IN AN AWKWARD SITUATION.

After school, we will meet you out in front of the school near the flag pole. Please do not come down to the classroom as that can cause distractions for the kids and makes it difficult to get everyone to their destinations and busses on time. If there is a change in normal routine, PLEASE write me a note or e-mail me before school starts that day.

Here is my Typical Daily Schedule that takes us through our day. Please keep in mind that this is a framework and that it can change depending on activities, special events, etc.

Birthdays!
We love to celebrate birthdays as they come throughout the year! Birthday treats are always welcome. Please do me a favor and remind me a day or two before when you're planning on bringing them in. We will celebrate summer birthdays in May to go with the corresponding summer b-day date. Example: July 22nd, we'd celebrate on May 22nd.

Snack
We have a snack calendar set up so every family will have a couple of days to help provide snack for the class. When it is your day to have snack, please send in something healthy for 20 kids. There is a refrigerator available for our use in the storage room if its needed.
Some examples of a good snack include but aren't limited to:

Student Handbook
The
Elementary School Handbook that explains school rules and procedures is here. It is a MS Word document that can be downloaded. Please refer to it as needed. If you have any questions about school rules or policies, please feel free to contact the office (754-3643 and they would be more than willing to help you further.

Please see the Classroom Procedures for all the details on classroom rules/procedures and how my behavior plan is laid out.

If you have any other questions or comments, please let me know!
