| A website dedicated to the Dutch Black Metal Underground WALPURGISNACHT BIOGRAPHY Walpurgisnacht was founded in 1996 by Heer Halewyn, Houtekiet and Marchosias (back than playing guitar). In the beginning they used various names and played mostly covers of bands like Mayhem, Gorgoroth and Rotting Christ. Because Marchosias also played in Cirith Gorgor, Grimm and Zwartketterij, there were no activities around Walpurgisnacht for a long time. But Houtekiet kept on writing music and in 2002, he decided to start Walpurgisnacht up again. Marchosias switched to drums and the band was completed by Mor De Naere and Malcus. The music Walpurgisnacht plays is influenced by bands like Burzum, Darkthrone, Mayhem and Satyricon. Inspiration for both music and lyrics is drawn from Dutch history and especially from the eerie history of 'De Peel', a large area in the south of Holland. In 2004, a full length album should be released.
