| A website dedicated to the Dutch Black Metal Underground CIRITH GORGOR BIOGRAPHY Cirith Gorgor was founded in 1993 by Asmoday and Astaroth Daemonium. About six months after the founding, Levithmong joined the band on drums. The band was initially named Dark Sorceress, but quite soon this was changed into Cirith Gorgor. After having played cover songs for a while, they started writing own songs and Lord Mystic joined the band to play the bass guitar. In 1995, the vocalist was fired and after some auditions the band recruited Nimroth as their new permanent vocalist. The first demo 'Mystic Legends...' was released late 1997 and received very good response. The band was signed by Osmose Records and in May 1999, their debut album 'Onwards To The Spectral Defile' was released. Directly after the release, Asmoday left the band due to personal problems and was replaced by Marchosias. With him, Cirith Gorgor started to work on new material and in 2001 'Unveiling The Essence' was released, again on Osmose Records. But after this, Astaroth Daemonium left the band and Osmose Records ended the contract. The band recorded a 4-track promo with their new guitarist Inferno and was signed by Ketzer Records, which released the 7" EP 'Through Woods Of Darkness And Evil'. The third full length album 'Firestorm Apocalypse - Tomorrow Shall Know The Blackest Dawn' was released in 2004. Over two years later, the band started to work on the fourth full-length album, but work was delayed by the departure of vocalist Nimroth. The album was finished and released in 2007 though, with drummer Levithmong taking care of the vocal part.
