Hamster Stories
Hibernation Is A Funny Thing
One day I was playing with my dwarf hamster, Chip. He was behaving very nicely. I  was around 6 years old when I had him. Anyway as soon as he felt the cold floor, he curled into a ball. "Grandma! Come quick!!! Help!!! Chip is dead!" I hollered. She helped me get chip into his cage, and when my parents came home, we told them what had happened. My mom, who sometimes thinks I make things up, checked the cage. And there he was. Chip was walking on his wheel.

The Doggy Roll About
Here's another one of Chips adventures. My grandmother had brought Tim, her
West-Highland White Terrier over to my house. I had put Chip in his little ball, I was going to watch him explore the house safely. Then I had to go to the bathroom, so I

ran into the bathroom. When I came back Tim was rolling Chip around the room!!! I picked the ball up, took Chip out, and hugged him gently. Poor Chip!

If Only School Would Last Forever
This was a sad day. I was getting ready for school. I hugged Chip and said goodbye to my family, and my two dogs and set out for school. When I came home, my dad called me into his bedroom. "Hunny, Chip is a little angel now." I knew exactly what he meant. Then he showed me Chip. I cried, and we had a funeral. If you asked me where the exact spot we buried him was, I could tell you in a heartbeat. I will never forget that hamster. Chip had a lot of fun times with us, and I can be thankful that I had a best friend when hard times came for me ( such as getting grounded ).               (submitted by Krystan Hodges)
Please send me in your hamster stories because as you can see I don't have many at the moment. If you do have one or two stories to share please e-mail me. I'm afraid I cannot reply to any e-mails.
Homing Hamster
One morning  I awoke to find my hamster's cage empty, then I looked down and sitting on a teddy bear next to the drawers was my hamster Kurtis. So I picked him up and placed him back in his bed, and thought nothing more of it. I went about getting ready for school as usual and then I noticed a plant at the bottom of the stairs had been dug up. There was also soil on the stairs. I went back up the stairs and caught the culprit black pawed! It was only then I realised the extent of his journey, he had got out of his cage, jumped onto the teddybear for a soft landing, climbed down the stairs, dug up the plant, climbed back up the stairs and sat on the teddy waiting for me to put him back in his cage.

A Wheeley Big Fall
My hamster Oreo had a cage at the top of the steps. Connected to her cage was a wheel that hung off the side. One day when she was in her wheel it just fell off, and went over the railing of the steps and hit the tile floor about 14 feet down. I raced down the steps and saw little Oreo lying there in her wheel. I figured she was dead. But after about 3 seconds, she got up and crawled out of the little hole that had connected the wheel to the cage. I was amazed. I thought sure that she was dead. After that she lived for a further 2 years.

Hamster Hiker
I have a hamster named Co-Co. Anyway he used to run up and down my steps. I would put him at the top of the stairs and he would literally race me down the steps. Sometimes he actually beat me. Going up the steps was a little harder. Our steps are 8 inches in width including our thick carpet. He would grab the carpet and pull himself up the step. He would do this all the way up to the top! Silly Co-Co

Hamster Ball-ooza
At the same time I had Kurtis my sister had a hamster called Jasper. We have a converted attic that has proper stairs and a playroom. One day me and my sister were in the attic with Jasper who was in his ball. We blocked off all the places he could get stuck and put a chair in front of the stairs. We were playing on the computer, when we heard a clunk, clunk, clunk, bang! My sister ran to the stairs and at the bottom Jasper was sitting in his ball looking quite shocked.
