Luis Meireles / Maria Jose Souza Guedes Duo

Founded in 1996, the
Luis Meireles / Maria Jose Souza Guedes duo is based upon the solid experience of each one of its members, acquired along many years with world famous professors, toguether with a permanent career as soloists and as chamber music partners of celebrated musicians.
This duet received advice from famous artists such as Sequeira Costa, Maria Joao Pires, Augustin Dumay, Aurele Nicolet,  Patrick Gallois, Istvan Matuz, William Benett, Felix Renggli  and Jean Ferrandis, among others.

It gave about 100 concerts in Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Roumania, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Russia and Macedonia. In 2004/5 it will make its "debut" in France, Switzerland, Brasil and Kazakistan.

It recorded three CDs including works by Schubert, Cesar Franck, Poulenc, Beethoven, Donizetti, Reinecke, Enesco, Franck Martin, Faure and Prokofiev, that won them very good rewiews and invitations to tour Europe.

In April 2002 they gave the world "premiere" of a double concerto for piano, flute and chamber orquestra, composed and dedicated to them by Fernando C. Lapa. It took place in Katowice Radio Hall, with the Silesian Chamber Orquestra under the direction of Jan Hawel.

Tis duet also made live recordings for the Portuguese National Radio Broadcast, for the Macedonian Greek Television and for the Radio Bartok
