| Participants and Stories--Round Two ||| Participants and Stories--Round One | | Information E-mail ||| Assignment E-mail | Welcome to the DunnesDarlins Fanfiction Fest! The DunnesDarlins Fanfiction Fest is an anonymous fanfiction exchange held on the DunnesDarlins Mailing List. For more information, please read the Information E-mail below. The DunnesDarlins mailing list is a list dedicated to J.D. Dunne, a character played by Andrew Kavovit on the short-lived but much-lived television show The Magnificent Seven. You can join the list here. For more information on this list, go to its home page or contact the list mom: Stefanie. Enjoy the stories! Disclaimer: This Web site contains stories written by members of the DunnesDarlins mailing list. All of these stories are works of fiction. The authors do not own The Magnificent Seven. They belong to The Mirisch Group, MGM, and Trilogy Entertainment. These stories were written for entertainment only, no monetary gain will be made from them.
Requests: In either OW or ATF AU, someone from JD's past comes around and hints that JD's mother may not have been his mother. Who was she? Were they related at all? How did he end up with her? It can be true or not, as the writer sees fit. In either OW or ATF LB AU, JD begins having nightmares. Why is he having them? Is someone doing something to him? If so, what? Or is it just the product of an overactive imagination reacting to something they read in class? In OW AU, JD finds a family that was attacked by a bear, cougar, whatever, with her dying breath, the mother begs him to look after her baby. What will he do? Will he try to keep the child? Will he try to find an appropriate family to adopt it? What will the guys do? Dislikes: Deathfic! Universes you're willing to receive: see above

Requests: Something where JD is not acting like himself, silly and/or confused, and the others don't know why. Can be any reason, he's sick, he's concussed, he's drunk or drugged, he's undercover and no one knows he's undercover, but he ends up stuck with Nathan for an extended period of time and is driving the poor man loopy. D and Nathan trapped some place and he's driving the poor man insane. Or JD and Ezra lost and JD's driving and won't stop for directions. I'm just in the mood for something off the wall, zany, silly, a little different. Dislikes: No death fic, don't write it, won't read it. I like all the regular characters so I don't care who shows up for the ride. Universes you're willing to receive: Either OW or ATF but would take it from anywhere!

Darlins, I would like to announce the start of the DunnesDarlins Fanfiction Fest! The DunnesDarlins Fanfiction Fest is an anonymous fanfiction exchange. Authors will request that a J.D.-fic be written for them, and they will receive a fic in return, written by someone else. It's like authors would get a bit of their "dream fic," since authors would be writing to someone else's request, and I think the anonymity would be fun, because after all fics have been shared, we could guess who wrote what. In this fest, authors will fill out the form below, detailing what they'd like to receive in a fic and what they're willing to write in return. They will then send this form into me at [email protected]. The form:
Pen Name: After I receive all of these forms, I will then go through them and assign different requests to different authors. For example, let's pretend that the following authors decided to participate and sent in the following requests (note: if someone mentions 3-4 plot ideas, authors do not have to include all of the requests in a fic, although they could if they wanted! The ideas are merely "I would like angst OR I would like humor," not "I want angst and I want humor"):
Pen Name: Jane
Pen Name: Katie
Pen Name: Stacy Now, I would try to match these requests up, looking at universes and plot suggestions. People wouldn't get to pick who they're writing for, because maybe everyone would want to write for the same person and etc. Since Stacy only wants to receive A.T.F. and Little Britches, I would perhaps send her request to Katie. Stacy could write for Jane, because Jane is willing to receive any universe. Jane would then write for Katie. People would know who they're writing for, like Katie would know she's writing for Stacy, but it would be a secret to everyone else until the names are revealed. Stacy wouldn't know who is writing for her. There will be a deadline for this fest. The deadline for this fest is [Date]. If the deadline arrives and some people aren't done, I could extend it. Additionally, a certain amount of people need to be willing to participate to even have the fest go on. I think if at least four or five people want to participate, the fest will work. If you have some questions before you're willing to commit, e-mail them to me at [email protected]. The following are the rules of the fest: 1. The DunnesDarlins Mailing List are having a fic exchange. All participants must fulfill their end of the bargain by completing their assigned fic request. If you are unable to write something in return, please dont ask for a gift. You may instead enjoy the fics when they are posted on [Date]. 2. This exchange is anonymous. Please don't tell the person you are writing for that you are writing for them. Authors won't be revealed until after all fics have been posted. If you have a beta, you may share with her who you are writing for. It will not be a secret who is participating in the fest, just who wrote which fic. (It can't be anonymous who is participating because since this is a gift exchange, fics will be posted as "Gift fic for [Name of Darlin], so people would know who's participating that way. 3. After all of the fics have been posted, I will create polls where participants and readers can guess the authors. 4. All completed fic must be e-mailed to [email protected] no later than [Date]. I will begin posting the gifts on [Date]. Fic must be at least 1,000 words in length. 5. All fic submissions must remain exclusive to this mailing list until the authors are revealed. This will happen on a day after the last gift is posted. 6. If you have any questions about your assignment after you receive it, you may e-mail them to [email protected]. Thanks, Stefanie
You will be writing for:
[Darlin Name] writes for:
Each Darlin' included several plot requests/ideas in their sign-up form. Please try to use at least one in the fic you're writing for your person--you certainly don't have to use all of them, but you can if you want! At least 1000 words is the required fic length.
If you ever have any questions directed toward the person you're writing for, such as a question about their request, simply e-mail the question to [email protected] and I'll pass it on to them.
Please do not contact the person you're writing for yourself, because the fest is (trying to be!) anonymous. Who wrote which fic will be secret until after *all* of the fics have been posted. At that time I will create a poll in which list members can vote on who they think wrote each fic. After the voting ends, at this point in time, I'm thinking that you yourself can then reveal whom you wrote for in an e-mail to the list (please wait for my okay for that, though).
The deadline for turning in your fic is currently set at [Date]. This deadline means that you should have your fic finished and *e-mailed into me* at [email protected] on or before [Date].
Shortly thereafter I will post one fic a day--without mentioning the author--to the list until all have been posted. After I've posted all of the fics, we will have the voting and revealing, as mentioned above.
You can certainly turn in your fic any time before [Date]. The deadline can be extended a little while if not everyone is finished by that time.
As for how you will receive feedback from list members if the fic is posted anonymously from my e-mail account, I will mention that people can either send feedback a) straight to the list, b) by replying to the post and having it go to my account, which I will then forward to you, or c) wait until authors have been revealed to send feedback. The fest is only going to last about a week.
I will send e-mails out to every author on the first of every month ([Date] and [Date]) and once again two weeks before the deadline just to remind you about the fest and the deadline.
Thanks for participating! I think we have a great group of authors participating, and I know I'm really excited to read the fics that come from the fest! I think everyone will be pleased with whatever fic they receive as a gift.
If the fest goes well, I'd certainly like to try having it again next year (or sooner). If we do have another one, and you participate again, you will never have to write for the same person two years in a row (and the same person will never write for *you* two years in a row)--unless you really, really want to, that is!
Thanks,
Stefanie
