Upon closer inspection, the wall decorations are indeed carvings of little people, also painted. The range of activities is staggering, and you almost feel like you're looking at a 14th Century Where's Wally.
In fact, thoroughout the multicoloured bright crowds of people are interspersed small black figures, upright and tubular, who seem to be extending tiny tentacles to snare the people. It is a bizarre sight, and looking back at the tomb, you see that the six-foot image on the lid is almost an exact match for the tiny black things.
This does not bode well...
