Saints
Week 4:Pittsburgh Steelers Week 4 featured the Saints at home, taking on the Steelers.
In an interesting first half, the Saints took the kickoff and drove down the field with strong runs by Bailey and a few decent passes to Ingram and Cook, with Bailey running it in for the TD. 7-0 Saints. The teams then traded touchdowns, and at halftime the game was knotted at 14. Buford McGee took the kickoff for the 2nd half and rambled all the way to the Saints 40. A few plays later it was 21-14 Steelers, as the Vinny Testeverde passing to Ronnie Harmon proved too much.
The Saints tied it up moments later on a spectacular long run by Bailey, and with three minute left to go in the fourth, the score was tied again at 21.
The Saints figured that with their weak defense, the best option was to onside kick it, let the Steelers score, and then with plenty of time on the clock, score a TD and try to send it to OT.
The Steelers hadn't been able to run the ball very well against the Saints, and Barry Sanders was smeared behind the line of scrimmage due to great rushes by Shane Conlan and Howie Long. Vinny Testeverde's errant pass on 3rd and 19 fell incomplete, and on fourth down Barry was tackled by Long a good 8 yard short of the first down.
With just under 2 minutes the Saints went to work, and after a nice pass to Fenner got the clock moving and a first down, Ass. Coach/Off Coordinator Dennis Green decided to run the ball with Bailey, who had been tearing up Pittsburgh all day long. Unfortunately, Bailey was stripped of the ball and Patrick Hunter took it 65+ yards for the winning TD. The Saints final gasp at a tie died at the Steelers 10 yard line, and all the Saints defense could do was look at Johnny "Too Small for the NFL" Bailey and cry.
