The first quarter started off with a bang, as Dan Marino led the Saints down the field in short order, throwing passes to Anthony Miller, Mark Ingram, and then a bomb to Marv Cook to put N.O. up 7-0.

The Rams came back with an excellent drive that featured some great running by Gary Anderson, and they evened the score at 7 when Kosar hit Al Toon.

The Saints came back and sliced through the Rams defense like butter; however, Marino got injured at the 7 yard line of L.A. Mike Tomzack came in but there was no hope. The game was over. The Saints were stopped.

Throughout the rest of the game, Tomzack sucked it up and the Rams blew over the Saints weak defense. The Saints turned the ball over three times, once on downs, and that was that.
