This page doesn't really have tips to help you whomp the other guy 1337 style cuz I figured you already think you know everything and anything I say would be pointless. That's why I put stuff that I like to do on this page. It's not always helpful but it will make you feel like you've acomplished something in your meaningless life if you pull it off especially if you could in the middle of a really tense battle. I don't know how you would do it but if you did everyone would think you are some 1337 uber pwnzor lord.
Rain of Chaos attack: (Mainly to use on Final Destination) Using Link stand on one side of the stage and throw the boomerang to the other side. While doing so, jump off the edge and hookshot to the wall and hang there. Get it so the boomerang will go through the floor of the stage before hitting Link. If you do it right the boomerang will come back and hit link sending him straight up into the air (It only happens when the boomerang comes at a certain angle, otherwise itll just toss Link to the edge of the arena). If you get it right, youll then be magnified for a while. In this time keep taking out bombs and throwing them down to stage. By the time you come back to the normal screen you should have at least 4 bombs dropping ahead of you. (Supposedly this was fixed in later versions of smash so it might not work if youre not a veteran player)
Note: For the best chance of it working, jump with Link and throw the boomerang so it goes straight from about the height of your one jump. Then jump off and hookshot the edge of the stage.
Link, Young Link, and Samus can hookshot/grapple while in the air. To add to this you can air dodge before doing so. After air dodging youll have a small amount of time to quickly shoot out your grapple beam or hookshot. This comes in handy when you need to avoid that guy thats about to spike you into oblivion while still making it back on.
Samus can have an extended grappling beam. To get it for one life, shoot the grappling beam as if to grab. While the beam is floating out there in limbo press up and down on the control pad rapidly. If you succeed, the next time you shoot the grappling beam itll be extended. When trying to grab with it use the shield grab (shield with L or R then press A). It will home in on the nearest opponent whether they be behind you or above you too. To grab them, wait for the end grappling beam to be over their character then press A to reel them in. It doesnt have a real advantage in battle but its cool to do.
For the Fox easter egg showing a miniclip with the fox characters saying their little dialogues go to a Fox stage with either Fox or Falco and press left and right quickly with the control pad. Then they do some cool stance for a few seconds. After that just sit back and watch.
To catch items (only throwing items) you have to time it so that you press A right before it hits you. You'll then grab the item and laugh at the person that threw it. If you do it too early then your character will most like attack with their A move and probably end up hitting the item and your opponent will laugh at you. Sorry its the way of life. To spice it up a bit you can catch in the air too. One way to do this is to press Z right before the item hits you. You'll catch it and also be able to throw it back. A safer way to do this is to do the dodge catch. Do the air dodge and press A right before the item is to come in contact with you. You'll lose free movement in the air but it's the best way to ensure that you don't get hit while trying to catch the item. Also, if you time it right and hit L or R with A at the right moment before the item comes in contact you'll catch it as if you did it with the Z button allowing you to still throw it back in the air or do some other move.
Power Shielding is also fun if you can time it right. When being shot at with a projectile you can reflect it back at your opponent by shielding right before the projectile hits you. This takes a good amount of timing though.
Wavedashing is always a cool thing to do. That's when you do an aerial dodge at an angle towards the ground when your are right above the ground itself. This will make a puff of smoke come up and your character will slide on the ground. The usual way of doing this would be to jump and immediately air dodge diagonally to the ground but sometimes I end up doing it when I'm coming down from a high jump or when someone had hit me in the air cuz it looks cool to slide away right before landing. |
