Positives of on-line gaming

As with any topic, there are always two sides to a story and the topic of on-line gaming is no different. While most literature bashes the somewhat recent phenomenon of on-gaming, there are some advocates of on-line gaming and they make some very compelling arguments. Kurt Squire, MIT's Games-To-Teach research project manager argues that on-line games sharpen players critical thinking skills and improve their social skills along with increasing their empathy for others. Others argue that on-line gaming increases players problem-solving skills and reflexes. The final and I feel the most compelling argument FOR on-line gaming is that in this ever-growing technological world that adolescents who are on the computer at all, even if it is gaming, will be better off in the technology filled world we live in today. Some say that the games are just a mask to get kids to explore the world wide web and that while on the internet, whether they know it or not, are learning about it. We all know that computer technology is the wave of the near future and activists for on-line gaming say that these gamers will be ahead of the curve when it comes.
