REE DUPTOM   Ree Duptom, a human Bounty Hunter, is famous for being the only individual to get kicked out of the Old Bounty Hunters Guild. He was known for spreading false rumors and misinformation, often working with the Empire, which helped himself and his employer. These 'lies', often about certain double-crosses in the Guild, resulted in a handful of Bounty Hunters being slaughtered in misdirected revenge. So the Leaders of the Old Bounty Hunters Guild decided to kick Ree Duptom out to save the future of the Guild. Ree Duptom was then considered "the creature that all other Bounty Hunters consider scum". This was the main reason why Ree Duptom had some difficulty finding a job after this incident. Although Ree Duptom still continued Bounty Hunting, he began taking all sorts of 'unethical' jobs. Several years before the Battle of Yavin, Ree Duptom was hired by Kud'ar Mub'at to perform a job for Nil Posondum (whom was hired by Kateel's sister). The job was to kidnap Kateel Of Kuhlvult (of the planet Kuat), have her memory wiped by a specialist, and then lose her somewhere throughout the galaxy. The kidnapping was successful, but Ree Duptom, knowing he could save some credits, decided to do the memory wipe himself, even though he was paid enough credits to have the wiping done by a specialist. The memory wipe he did was 'cruel' but not very thorough. Kateel remembered 'scrapes' of her past, and, years later, she started to piece together that she was once Kateel of Kuhlvult. Kateel was now known as Neelah, a name given to her by Boba Fett, after the memory wipe. At the same time Ree Duptom was doing the job for Kud'ar Mub'at, he was also doing a job for Kuat of Kuat. The job involved spreading false evidence of Prince Xizor's involvement in the murder of Luke Skywalker's guardians, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, on Tatoonie. Ree Duptom was given a cargo droid that contained the false evidence against Xizor, which he put in the cargo hold of his ship, the Venesectrix. During the final transport of Kateel, Duptom's ship was sabotaged by an old partner (unknown person). The Venesectrix suffered a partial reactor core meltdown in the engines and radiation flooded the ship. Ree Duptom was killed and the ship was badly damaged. Neelah was in the heavily reinforced cargo hold, the only halfway safe place on the ship. She suffered severe radiation poisoning. The Venesectrix was discovered, by Boba Fett, floating and adrift near the Core planets. Fett took both Kateel of Kuat, near death by now, and the cargo droid containing the false evidence against Xizor, aboard Slave I. Fett left the Venesectrix floating in space, soon to be discovered by a passing unknown smuggler.
