Dengar had been racing repulsorlift bikes, known as Swoops, since his childhood. He became a cult hero throughout the Corellian system. When he was a young adult, Dengar was a professional Swoop racer for the Ferini Team. With the Ferini team, he became even more popular, gaining endorsement contracts, higher wages and winnings.

But Dengar was constantly compared to another young Swoop racer, who raced on the private circuit, with the name of Han Solo.m. Finally, tired of the comparisons, Dengar challenged Solo to a 'winner-takes-all' race across the dangerous crystal swamps of Agrilat. Solo accepted and the Swoop race between these two popular racers was one of the most watched events in the Corellian system.

The two racers were evenly matched for most of the race. On the final stretch Solo sped to a lower altitude, zooming through the dangerous underbrush, pulling ahead slightly. Dengar decided to go one better and swooped closer to the swamps, taking an even lower approach. As he cleared the last bit of foliage before the straightaway to the finish line, Dengar didn't realize Solo was directly above him. Dengar pulled his swoop up and crashed into Solo's main repulsor fin. The impact left Dengar badly burned, with major cranial trauma.

While he was recovering, Dengar also received word that he had been kicked out of professional Swoop racing for engaging in the illegal race with Solo.

Dengar felt like Han Solo destroyed his life. And although he eventually healed, Dengar became a cold and bitter man with a burning hatred for Han Solo.

After this incident, he became a gladiator for a time until the Empire enlisted him to be an assassin. The Empire trained Dengar and provide him with drugs to help stabalize his mind that was unstable since the accident. When Dengar discovered the existence of the galaxy-wide bounty on Han Solo's head, he saw his chance for revenge and became a Bounty Hunter. It is unknown how long Dengar serviced in the Empire.

Outfitting himself with body-protecting blast armor and major weaponry, Dengar eventually came into the employment of Jabba the Hutt. His technique over the following decade was successful but debatable. Of the twenty-three bounties he captured, only six were alive.

Shortly before the battle of Hoth, Boba Fett gathered several other Bounty Hunters, including Bossk, Skorr, and Dengar, to find Han Solo. The Hunters captured him aboard the pirate Raskar's ship, along with Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca, the Wookie. While bringing the trio to the planet Ord Mantell, the trio managed to escape with the help of Luke Skywalker's Force powers.

A year after the destruction of the Empire's first Death Star, The Dark Lord of the Sith sent out a call for bounty hunters to find Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. But Dengar was unable to capture Han Solo before Boba Fett, who delivered Solo's carbon-frozen body to Jabba The Hutt, losing one of the biggest quarries of his career. Dengar was disappointed at missing what was probably his last chance for revenge.

Months later, Dengar arrived on Tatooine, making his way to Jabba The Hutt's palace and the endless celebrations there. Too drunk on Zeltron spiced wine, he missed the excitement when the execution party left to dispose of Luke, Han, and Chewbacca. Dengar wasn't even aware of it. But he soon found out about the Rebels' escape and Jabba's death.

A short time later, Dengar set out to search for Jabba's body among the wreckage of the sail barge near the Great Pit of Carkoon. He was sure that Jabba would have an identi-chip on him that would open the mysterious and hopefully treasure-filled vaults deep in the palace.

Instead of Jabba, Dengar found the armorless and dying body of Boba Fett. Fett was covered in scars and fibers from the Sarlacc. Dengar brought Fett to an underground hiding place which he had set up in advance if the need for a quick escape from the Palace should arise. Along with an ex-dancing girl of Jabba's, Neelah, and two of Jabba's medical droids, Dengar nursed Boba Fett back to health in a couple of months.

During this time, Dengar sent word to his fiancee, Manaroo, that she should take The Punishing One and go into hiding.

Dengar, Fett, and Neelah left soon after in the Slave I in order to avoid various assassination attempts on Fett's life (of which there had already been two). Fett wanted the galaxy to believe that he really was dead so he stole Bossk's ship, The Hound's Tooth, while leaving the Slave I floating in space above Tatoonie.

Dengar managed to escape the destruction of 20% of the Kuat Drive Yards by abandoning Boba Fett and escaping in The Hound's Tooth, only to be saved by his fiancee Manaroo in The Punishing One. Unknown to Dengar till this time, Manaroo had been wagering their little money that Dengar would survive his partnership with Boba Fett (she got very good odds). Since he had indeed survived, the couple now had enough money for Dengar to quit Hunting and to start a new business. It was only then that Dengar realized how much he would miss the excitement of Bounty Hunting and considered staying in it sort of part time for a few extra credits.

It is unknown what business they set up, but presumably the two got married soon after and have lived in relative comfort ever since. Dengar waits for the day when he will get even with Han Solo.

Dengar is still available for hire for the right price.

Information and Pictures on Dengar's ship the Punishing One are available.
