4-LOM Species: Industrial Automation 4-LOM Protocol Droid Sex: N/A - Masculine Programming Hair Color: N/A Eye Color: N/A Height: 1.6 meters Homeworld: Unknown Weapons of Choice: Blaster pistol, stun-gas blower Vehicle of Choice: Incom Corsair Mist Hunter     4-LOM was programmed to serve as a protocol droid and valet on the luxury passenger liner, the Kuari Princess. With a TranLang III Communications module allowing 4-Lom to speak and translate over seven million languages, he acted as an interpreter between the rich guests and the ship's computer. As entertainment, the protocol droid began engaging the main computer in a series of games, simulating how best to steal vaulables. The games became serious, though, when the droid and the computer began to alter each others' programming. 4-LOM's altered programming eventually gave him more sentience, and he became a self-aware droid. The droid began noticing the reckless way that the wealthy passengers on the ship handled their valuables. Feeling it was his duty to serve the passengers, 4-LOM calculated every possible way the valuables could be stolen as well as the most likely time a thief might try to steal them. Soon, unexplained and perfectly executed thefts had the Kuari Princess owners worried. No one suspected 4-LOM, the benevolent and passive droid. In the case of one particularly valuable jewel named the Ankarres Sapphire, which had the ability to heal, 4-LOM stole the jewel just before a pair of Corellians attempted to. Although the thieves' attempt was foiled, the droid reasoned he should protect the jewel longer and kept it. Soon, he discovered the 'thrill' of stealing and after stealing several valuable jewels from passengers without anyone suspecting, he jumped ship at Darlyn Boda. There, he sold the valuables and began a life devoted entirely to crime. He soon became an off-ship master thief and information broker for the galaxy's most powerful crime lords, including Jabba the Hutt. Due to 4-LOM's exceptional thieving skills, Jabba saw that the droid had a lot of potential. Jabba enlisted the droid as a bounty hunter. 4-LOM reminded Jabba that his programming, even though altered, wouldn't allow him to commit violent acts. So Jabba offered him a deal: He would refit, reprogram, and rebuild 4-LOM in exchange for his services. 4-LOM agreed. And 4-Lom was provided the required programming for his new tasks. Soon after receiving this programming, the logical 4-LOM teamed up with the Gand Hunter, Zuckuss. Zuckuss had the intuition, and an ability to outguess his opponents, and 4-LOM had his excellent analytical skills. By teaming up with a creature with such skills, 4-LOM reasoned, he could program himself to gain intuitive insights on bounties, making him a nigh unstoppable bounty hunter. They made a perfect team. During their partnership, 4-LOM and Zuckuss proved to be extremely efficient in acquiring bounties, and a true sense of loyalty developed between the two. After Zuckuss endured injuries which limited his lung use, 4-LOM spent much of his time protecting the Gand bounty hunter. They quickly became two of Jabba's favorite hunters. A year after the destruction of the Empire's first Death Star, The Dark Lord of the Sith sent out a call for bounty hunters to find Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. Jabba sent Zuckuss and 4-LOM as "non official emissaries" to Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer Executor. The Bounty Hunting duo knew that the enormous price on Solo's head could purchase Zuckuss new lungs. They disabled a Rebel transport that was attempting to escape from Hoth and then "rescued" 90 Rebel survivors of the transport, hoping they would be able to infiltrate the Rebellion at their rendezvous point, which Zuckuss discovered in meditation. Zuckuss and 4-LOM were unable to capture Han Solo before Boba Fett, losing one of the biggest quarries of their careers. Zuckuss made an arrangement through the Rebels to grow new lungs for himself and he and 4-LOM began work as Special Forces operatives for the Rebellion. Zuckuss and 4-LOM were treated like heroes by the Rebellion. Zuckuss went on to continue Bounty Hunting when he got his new lungs. While 4-LOM remained in the Rebellion.
