Title: Decisions of the Heart Song: Can't Fight the Moonlight Artist: Lee Ann Rhymes "You can try to resist Try to hide from my kiss But you know, but you know That you, can't fight the moonlight Deep in the dark You'll surrender your heart But you know, but you know That you, can't fight the moonlight, No-o you can't fight it It's gonna get to your heart" I sang along with my Coyote Ugly Soundtrack. It was my favorite song in the whole movie, just because that was the song that Violet (I don't know her real name) sang for the first time in front of other people. Also, it's a really good song. "Emily, can you please turn that down? I'm trying to get some work done here" My Mom called from her office. I smiled and turned it down. I love singing and performing, even if it was just in my room. I wanted to ask my Mom if I could go to the mall with Jessica, who was my best friend since pre school. I walked down the stairs and turned the corner just as my Mom was arguing with someone on the phone. I know it was wrong to eavesdrop, but I was teenager, that was my job. "I know Emily is your daughter, but they have both been doing well this way. So I don't think that we should say anything to either one of them" My Mom said and sighed loudly. I was confused. Let me tell you a little about my self, before this story goes any further. My name is Emily Lynn Kennedy. I am 15 years old, and a Sophomore in High School. I wasn't Miss. Popularity, but I had a lot of friends. I live with my Mom whose name as Jennifer Kennedy. She was one of those cool moms who let my friends call her by her first name, but was really strict when it comes to some things. Like letting me stay by myself when she goes away on a business trip. As for my dad, I never met him. Him and my Mom split up when I was about 2 and I never saw him. I don't remember how he looked, or anything for that matter. I liked singing, mostly POP, but I listened to bands like Linkin Park, Staind, and Creed. I was 5"6, had brown hair, and green eyes. I'm one of those people who could eat a lot but not gain weight, but I wasn't too skinny. With that said and done, lets get back to the story... I was confused. My Mom was talking to my DAD. I didn't even know she knew where he was, let alone his phone number. And what did she mean by "they have both been doing well." Who was "they." I had hundreds of questions floating through my mind, but pushed them away. I decided to knock before I walked into the office. KNOCK~KNOCK "Mom, can I ask you something?" I said as I walked in, pretending I didn't know she was on the phone. I don't think she was expecting me, because she jumped out of her chair as soon as I opened the door. "I have to go, but we will continue to talk about this later" My Mom said and hung up the phone "What do you need?" She asked as she sat back down, behind her desk and gave me a worm smile. Usually I would smile back, but for some reason this time it was a nervous smile. "Who was that one the phone?" I asked, nonchalantly "Oh, just someone from work. Now, what is that you wanted to ask?" She asked changing the subject quickly. "Oh, umm I was just wondering if I can go to the mall with Jess tomorrow?" I asked hopefully "Sure, I don't see why not" She answered and smiled again. Now I knew something was wrong, my Mom does not smile after every sentence that she says. I decided to leave it at that, but I had a strange feeling that something big was coming up. "OK, I'm gonna go to my room" I replied and headed up towards my room. |
