Dear Marcus,

Although you played soccer off and on in secondary school, it is only in these recent years that you seem to really attack it with gusto. Can you tell us what caused this change?

A: It was the lack of team games in my life I guess, athletics is a rather lonely sport. I only started playing in RJ when Woon formed Y. Guns and they asked me to play at Right Back.

What have been the obstacles you faced for starting soccer so late? How did you overcome them?

A: Err… the most obvious obstacle is that I suck? I mean I'll never be as good as most of our friends because I don't have any natural talent, and starting so late, I had to work harder. I mean, if I was good at it, I would be in the soccer team in the first place, right?

Has your background in track and field helped you in anyway?

A: And as a link to the answer above, yes. Athletics has helped a lot, in the past. But look at me now? HA HA. Running and sprinting is a major part of soccer isn't it? So yes, many would say that it helps and I would fervently agree.

What are the major events that have dictated the way you play soccer?

A: I love attacking football. Who doesn't? I like tactics that push wingers up and spread the play. You played for Y. Guns before so you should know the mentality: score more than them and we win. Unfortunately, that means as a player, I dun really appreciate defensive qualities.. but I'm working on it.. And yes Gavin, left foot. I'm still working on my left foot. Being able to use both feet makes you two times the better player, I feel.

What do you try to achieve when you have the ball in defence, midfield and attack.

A: When I have the ball in defence, midfield or attack; I look up and look for the attacking option. Only attack. Does that answer the question?

What do you try to achieve off the ball when the ball is in defence, midfield and attack.

A: getting into positions to attack? Isn't that what strikers should do?

What advice would you offer to those aspiring after you?

A: Why would anyone aspire after me?

Summarise what soccer means to you and how it fits in the larger scheme of things.

A: It's a form of recreation, sport and time to take off my hectic studies. Meeting up, chatting and catching up with you guys is the most valuable thing isn't it?

What are your views on the RAI invitational moving over to the PS2?
