Documentation of the Development Process Explain to your audience the intent and purpose behind this website. What steps did you take in creating the website that ensured you met your objectives?

The intent of this website was to create exciting content for visitors to find our company, Uncle Larry’s Canyon Adventures, and feel as excited as we are about exploring the Grand Canyon. Upon visiting our site, visitors should become so excited and comfortable with the company that they book a trip with us. Some of the steps utilized in creating the website were keeping the navigation simple so that visitors could focus on the content and become fully immersed in the experience of multimedia and the design of the website instead of how to navigate the site itself.

Defense of the Final Product Why did you make the specific design choices that you did? For each of your website’s pages, explain your rationale for the overall design, as well as the individual components (colors, typography, etc.). Support your choices with evidence of your consideration of the end user. What did you do to make your website engaging, professional, and easy to use?

Each page of the website has a very similar layout, this was done to keep the focus on the content of each page. The layout is simple, yet exciting. The color scheme throughout the webpages uses the same colors found when you look at photos of the Southwestern United States. I chose to remain with the video on the home page because I felt it was unique and added excitement to the page. I feel that if someone is looking for a white water rafting trip, a video like that will encourage them to book the trip. The photographs and videos used throughout the webpages embody what the visitor would experience along a journey with the company. One of my peers suggested I tidy up my forms a bit. I took their advice because my text boxes were all over the place, now they are nice and orderly and visually appealing. I utilized an image of the canyon as the background and made the boxes slightly transparent so that the background was visible through the boxes. I also kept the typography simple as to not take away from the idea of drawing the visitor to the Grand Canyon itself rather than just staying on the website forever. I did my best at following appropriate design guidelines such as rule of thirds.

Opportunities for Improvement and Growth Finally, explain what else you might like to do with this website in the future. What could you have done differently if you had more time or resources? What sorts of content, capabilities, pages, etc. might you want to include in future updates?

There is a lot of opportunity for improvement with the website. I’m excited to continue learning coding and css so that I may improve on the site. One thing I feel is that the website looks very basic and could use more details such as borders and buttons. I’d like to improve upon the forms on the webpages as well as have a more unique header. Instead of just orange, perhaps something like a time lapse of the sun setting over the Grand Canyon. Given more time I might also position objects differently and create a logo for the company among other things. There is a lot to coding and css so there is much to learn and with that will come improved websites and better design that I’m excited to learn.
