When I went to GameStop to pick up my new shiny Nintendo DS, I didn't know what to expect. Well I after I tore open the packadge, I knew I had the best handheld to date. With the DS, you get a charger, wrist strap, extra stylus, all the extra paper work (manual, etc.), and the free Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt demo. The unit itself was a lot smaller then I expected.

The D-pad is a good size but I wish the DS had an analog stick. The L, and R shoulder buttons are a very good size. The B, A, X, Y buttons are smaller than the GBASP buttons. But they are spaced apart so don't worry about pressing a wrong button during gameplay. If you look carefully, the B, A buttons are a little greyish while the X, Y buttons are black. All the buttons are the clicky kind from the SP.

The unit is very thin and very light for having 2 screens. The screens themselves are bright and so clear. If you play a GBA game, you will notice a big difference. The sound is
GREAT, no other word for it. The game cards are very small. Barely taller then the GBA carts, but it is half its leangth, and way thinner. First time I saw the game card, I was like "What the hell, this is going to be easy to lose!"

The DS has a liitle hole on the back next to the game card slot, once in their, it is very well secured. The stylus is kind of small and it may get kind of annoying to use. But that is where the thumb strap comes in. It has a plastic end which you can use on the touch screen. It is a substitute analog stick. But if you're using it, it is kind of hard to tap small buttons on the touch screen. Some people find it "slippery" which is true and false, it all depends on how you  use it.

The touch screen is very durable people. If you push down on it to hard, you'll get this weird feeling. It is
VERY accurate. The stylus will not leave marks if you use it appropiatly, but the thumb strap might leave some marks (not scratches). Picto-chat is very fun. But it does get boring when no one is around. You can even type in Japanese...very cool.

The battery life is great. It'll last around 8 hours, it really depends. I tried the wireless connection out, I connected with another DS at Wal-mart about 50 feet away. I have to say this, the multiplayer graphics in Metroid Prime Hunters FH is excellent. The other Samus's models look great in multiplayer. I can't wait to get other games, I'm broke now so don't expect any reviews of games from me. This has been my hands-on review of the DS.
