(Things that further depress, bore, and swelter)

Some cat complaints from my neighbors continue, although no pound calling has occurred yet... am trying to train my wild ones to eat on the little-used front stoop, but Greta and Garbo (twin girls, pale grey torties - both ovaryless now) are awfully slow learners. How could anyone be annoyed by these sad shy little cats hanging around... (well, them and the other 7 which actually live in my house).

More rolling pin...

Kindness of a friend and friend of a friend... Hsi because he morally suased me into finally getting some decent tires -  which led to discovery that my brake pads were worn down to the metal and the discs were grooved like LP's (I swear to God I did not hear a thing), and he then promptly got his friend Lin to come over and take a look at them, which led to the kindness of Lin, in fixing my brakes and refusing to take money for it... Bu hao yisi!!

The fact that my very good friend from Taiwan. is coming to visit in less than a month!!!

My shiso plants that my friend Debbie the gardener gave me, and that survived a plane trip home with me from Boston... (although one of  the pots on my porch did not survive my subsequent, customary, cruel forgetfulness to water... but the others lucked out and caught some rain)... I had long dreamed of having my own shiso plant...  theoretically, could be used to make my favorite sushi rolls such as "ume shiso maki" (pickled plum paste, shiso leaf, rice, nori) and Ru San's "surf and turf" maki (raw tuna, walnut halves, shiso, rice, nori), that is, if I were nonlazy enough to make sushi rolls....

More sheep...

Moved my favorite links to my blog...
It was quite a process trying to name my vanity site "depressed, bored, and sweltering" in Chinese. For want of an easier way I had to print it off Word and scan and save it as a photo... took about 3 hours... looks so much better than if I tried to draw it in Paint though...
Inspired by my sister's FREE
vanity site, I started one too... (come to think of it, this sounds a lot like my reasoning for going to law school... except it was not free).
Also inspired by
Sarah's blog, my blog has a format  of occassional narcissistic twittering.  See here for my very first blogulatory efforts...I may not have cute little cartoons of yeast bacteria  before and after Monistat, but I do occasionally have Chinese vocabulary...
Studying Chinese with as little effort as possible
Following lefty political blogs
Watching Seinfeld reruns
Accumulating cats (7 now)
Listening to
Ian Bostridge recordings (other lieder singers are annoying. OK, being shallow, but I do not like baritones...)
