***************************************************************** "Hey guys! What's up?" Lily asked as they finished the song. "Everythang's al'ight here...and you?" Matt asked as he sat down near Lana. Chris watched as Matt settled himself next to Lana. He felt a pang of jealousy. He laughed as Matt annoyed her. Chris kept on laughing and everyone joined in as Lana sat there annoyed at Matt. But she couldn't help but smile. Matt kept making weird and funny faces at Lana. Everyone cracked up, including Lana, laughing. "Oh, Matt!" Lana said trying to hold back her laughter as she hugged him. Matt just laughed and hugged her back. Chris felt that little pang of jealousy grow bigger and just pushed it away and laughed with the rest of the group. ***************************************************************** The phone rang, and Lana got up to answer it. She checked the caller ID and saw it was the police station. She quickly picked it up and then sadly thought of her sister. The others looked at her and immediately became quiet. "Hello? Um...Lana? This is Officer Dorian. I wanted to tell you that we have not yet found your sister...but we have found someone who might know where she might be. This is because she was the last person to see your sister. We need you over here right now," Officer Dorian said to Lana as she sighed. She knew the procedure, but this was the first time that they had actually found someone that knew something. "Okay, Officer Dorian I'll be right over. Thank you for letting me know. I'll see you in a few. Bye." Lana responded as she thought this is how she was going to spend her birthday. "I'll come with you, Lana...if you want me to." Chris told her as she smiled at him. "So will we...if you want us to," Lily told her as the boys nodded and stood up. Lana just nodded and headed for the door. They all followed her quietly. Chris caught up with Lana and put his right arm around her shoulder as she walked. They all stayed quiet throughout the walk. ***************************************************************** "...and I last saw her with some tall man. I thought it was your father," Erika said to Officer Dorian and Lana. Lana felt tears come out of nowhere. She quickly wiped it away, but realized it was too late. They had all seen her. She broke down and started to cry. Chris grabbed her before she fell to the floor and then held her tightly. She continued to cry as Erika, a friend of Caity's, told her she was sorry. Lana just shook her head and told Erika it wasn't her fault. "You didn't know, Erika! It's not completely your fault...it's mine. I should have been watching her," Lana told her as her tears started to dry. She smiled at Erika and let go of Chris. Chris tried to force a smile for Lana. He didn't want her to see his pain for her. Lana grabbed his hand and they walked out of the Police station. The others waited a minute then followed them. Chris let go of her hand and slipped his arm around her shoulder. She put her head on his shoulder as they walked ot. It was about 8:30 and they all were hungry. "Do any of you people want to eat?" Jesse asked. Lana lifted her head and nodded. "Duh!" Lily said. Lana laughed and they headed for a pizza parlor. They finished eating around 9:00 and they all parted after that. All of them except for Lana and Chris. Chris and Lana headed straight for the park. The moon was out and it was very quiet. Nothing was heard. Chris used this silence to his advantage to talk to Lana. "Lana, I don't know how you feel right now...but, always know that I am here to talk to, alright?" Chris explained to her as she felt those tears come back. She thought to herself what a crybaby she was. But she couldn't help but smile at him for being so sincere. She laid her head on his shoulder as he hummed a DS song to her. She watched the moon as Chris sang to her. The wind blew gently on them, so Lana snuggled into Chris more. Chris put his head on her head and continued to hum. Lana fell asleep in his arms as he hummed more softly. ***************************************************************** Chris knew she was sleeping and let her sleep for a while. He liked the feeling of her being close to him. He continued to hum and wished that he didn't have to leave her at a time like this. He was heading to Cali, and she was to be left her all alonee while she was trying to cope with the disappearance of her little sister. He held her close and kissed her head. He got up and lifted her to his arms. He carried her all the way home. When Chris got to her house, he rang the doorbell and then her mother answered. She was almost shocked then was flattered that he was going this for her daughter. "If you can just open the door to her room, I'll take care of everything from there," Chris told Lana's mother and she did what he had said. She opened the door to Lana's room, and Chris walked over to her bed and gently laid her on it. Lana's mother carefully looked on as he tucked her it. He sat down on her bed for about a second then softly kissed her forehead. He pushed some strands away from her face and then looked at her once more. Her mother sighed and walked away. She cam back with a camera. She looked at Chris and quickly snapped a shot. She walked away. Chris got up and walked to the door. Once he reached the door, he turned around to Lana once more and smiled. He walked out and closed the door behind him. ***************************************************************** "Chris? Uh...Look can you please call back. It's kinda urgent. Oh, it's Greg by the way. So...uh...just call back. Thanks, man," Greg said to the answering machine. He put down the phone and looked at the girl standing at the door. Her clothes almost torn to shreds and her hair messy. He knew who this was. But he didn't want to rush things. His sisters Nicole and Amanda brought her upstairs and gave her new clothes. His other sister Daniella was getting snacks for her and then brought them upstairs for her to eat. Mrs.Raposo told the little girl to stay for the night, because she too knew who she was. Greg just watched on as they tried to make the little girl feel at home. He saw her start to cry, and he went straight for the tissue box. He walked back and handed the box to her. She gratefully took it and wiped away her tears. Greg looked at her and told her everything was going to be alright. The little girl nodded. "What's your name?" Greg asked though already knowing the answer. "My name is Caity..." ***************************************************************** Chris walked down the stairs and headed towards the door. "Uh...Christopher? Can you please come here?" Lana's mother asked and he turned towards the voice. He stopped when he saw her. "Yes?" Chris said politely. She moved closer to him with a box in her hands. "This is for you...after what you did for my daughter. Then tucking her in..." She started as she handed him the box,"...and helping her cope with all that has happened. I just want to say thank you. I am really tired now. I am going to bed. You can see yourself out right?" "Yes...Thank you, Mrs.Kolita. Good night!" he answered surprised. She nodded and went up the stairs. Chris held the box and walked out the door. He walked down the street ass he opened the box. When he took off the cover, he saw a picture frame. Then he looked at the picture. He gasped and smiled. The picture was of him pushing away the strands of hair on Lana's face. He smiled as he turned the corner and headed towards the subway. He looked at the faces on the wall under the word missing, while he waited for the subway to come. He saw the subway car coming and then looked at the faces on the wall. He walked back to the stairs and went searcing for Lana's little sister.
