Message from Author: Hi everyone! This is a chapter from a suggestion I got, and a mix with someone asking me to do something. Well, I did it! Thanks to Kayla (not the 1 in the story) for helping me with this chapter (the idea) and to the person whom asked! Kayla woke up. She looked at her clock, which read 6:30. She decided to get out of bed and get ready for practice. She had wakened up 2ce during the night. 1st time was cause Dianas Aunts cat has been meowing very loudly and had been scratching on her door. The 2nd time was cause she had an odd dream. Well, considerate it a nightmare. Oh yeah... I have that date with Chris today to... well; Ill just call it a date she thought as she got dressed. She ate breakfast alone, noticing nobody was in the house (except Silver who was eating a mouse...) {I rhyme to much... AS I was saying!} Finally, she was ready to leave by 7:15. But when she walked out the door, she found Chris waiting for her. She asked stunned what are you doing here Chris? Well, I didnt know where to go to pick you up this afternoon, so I thought I might as well come over here this morning, take you there, then pick you up later he answered smiling. Wow thanks Chris! I was starting to think Id have to walk all the way there said Kayla laughing. Great. Lets go said Chris motioning forward. Right said Kayla walking toward the other side of the car. She sat in the front seat next to Chris, then turned to him and asked I guess someone else took Jesse? Ya. Well, I dont even think hes eaten breakfast yet said Chris laughing again. Kayla asked So you have practice today to? Yep. Well, like you, just this morning, and we get the afternoon plus evening off. The way it works for us is, 3 days we all have practice. Then 2 days 3 guys get off, and the other 2 guys get the last 2 days off. Occasionally, we all get off. And every time before a concert, we always practice Chris explained taking a quick glance at her. About 10 minutes later, Chris finally pulled into the studio place where they using, and Kayla wrote down the directions incase Chris forgot. See ya in a couple of hours Kayla said looking at Chris through the rolled down window. Ya. See ya, and good luck said Chris with a smile and a wave. Kayla watched him pull out of the parking lot and waved to him 1 more time. Then, she walked in the doorway; seeing that almost everyone was there, and the director was making a little speech about last nights concert. She walked over to them and stood beside Aaron. Good morning everyone. I just wanted to say, yall did a excellent job last night at the concert. Very good singing, and dancing. And Aaron, great job with the audience. We need to do that with the rest of the 2 concerts. Lets get started. And remember since we just had a concert last night, today is a half-day said the director. When he said that, some of the dancers said yes or something quietly. Today, well warm up with Stride. Take your places he added. Morning Kayla greeted Aaron. Morning Aaron she said. Then she remembered that Chris would be picking her up early, so she went over to the director. Um excuse me sir? I was wondering, 1 of my friends are gonna pick me up about 20 minutes early. Is that OK? He turned around and smiled sure Kayla. You earned a few extra minutes off. Its fine, so dont worry about it. Kayla smiled Thanks! While she was taking her place, she saw Diana Hey Diana. Did you enjoy last night? Ya. It was awesome. Im really glad you love DS now said Diana. {Note to everyone: Aaron didnt tell anyone about him, Kayla, and Court being able to meet DS, so nobody knows} She saw that she had a few seconds to spare, so she ran back up to Aaron. Is it OK if I tell Diana about last night and ya know... she asked quietly and glanced around quickly. I guess so... ya. I mean, theyll freak and all and youll be very envied for a while. But ya, go ahead said Aaron laughing a bit. Thanks she replied and dashed back to her spot, eager to tell Diana before time ran out. Diana, I gotta tell you something. Its about last night. Ya know, you were wondering why I was staying with Aaron and Courtney? Ya. Why were you? Well... ya see, when you guys went to go watch DS, Aaron came into the warm-up room and asked if I wanted to... she was suddenly nervous, and was a bit relieved when the director interrupted her. She took her place, and quickly told Diana that she would tell her later. Well, that wouldnt be for a while. An hour had passed and Kayla still hadnt gotten a chance to tell her. Finally, the director said 10-minute break and Aaron automatically knew what Kayla was going to do. She crossed the room and down the hallway with Rachel, Courtney, and Melody following. She walked over to the break room across the hall and bought a Sprite out of the soda machine. Then, she sat down at the table, with the others crowding around her, and began the story from the start, explaining every last detail. All the girls screamed every 5 seconds, and Aaron was listening to the parts after he left at a table across from them, laughing and smiling whenever Kayla glanced at him. Soon almost every girl dancer for Aaron was listening. And thats that she said. Kayla left the part out when Chris invited her out and taking her home and how Jesse invited Court out, and glanced at Courtney every 1nce in a while and gave her a look that asked do ya want me to get that detailed? And her eyes would widen and through the look in Courts eyes, she could tell the answer was no. Rachel screamed when Kayla finished Oh my God! Kayla are you serious?! Yep. Ask Aaron if ya need to said Kayla smiling. Alright everyone, back to work called the director. Kayla looked at her watch and saw that she only had 3 hours till Chris would be there. Lets get started again with Cowgirl. Take your places he added. The only thing almost anyone talked about that day was Kayla and Courtneys chance meeting Dream Street. Kayla and Courtney both enjoyed this, plus all the attention. We should do things like this more often laughed Kayla who was talking to Court after a few more songs. 2 hours later, they had another 20-minute break. Kayla took the chance to talk to Courtney about both of their dates that afternoon. So she talked to Courtney silently at a table in the back of the break room, where nobody would here them next to the chattering. So your going out with Chris? Thats cool. I cant wait till I meet Jesse. Hes really nice said Courtney smiling. Kayla agreed ya. I cant wait to meet Chris either. Hes sweet to. I wonder what were gonna do? I dont know. Jesse said we were gonna go out to lunch, then to where ever I wanted to go to said Courtney thoughtfully. Kayla smiled isnt this just awesome though? Awesome? Its great! Kayla laughed thats what I thought to. Theyre all nice though. Ya they are... answered Courtney. (In another studio) Down on Dream Street.... Great job you guys, great job. But Frankie, dont turn so fast OK? And Jesse, watch your dance moves and where your walking so you dont run into Matt lectured Claudia. Take a quick break guys said their director. Chris walked out the door with Jesse beside him, followed by Matt, the Frankie and Greg. But Chris stepped off to the side and pulled Jesse with him and let the other guys go ahead. Chris turned to Jesse are you OK Jess? Youre a bit off today said Chris starting a forward again slowly. I dont know... Im just having 1 of those off days I guess. My minds been wandering ever since I got here this morning, so Im kinda out of it explained Jesse not even looking at Chris the whole way to the break room. Chris became worried for his friend, but didnt say anything after that. Matt looked at him while he was standing by the soda machine whats up with Jesse? I dont know. All hes saying is, hes just having 1 of those off days as he puts it explained Chris opening his Coke. Maybe hes just exited about his date this afternoon or something like that said Matt. Jesse had explained with Chris that they both had to leave a bit earlier that morning because they had plans for the afternoon. But, the secret spilled, and so all the guys knew it. Im not sure... said Chris with a glance at Jesse who was talking to Frankie about something. Jesse walked over to Chris after he finished with Frankie, and explained to him what was up. And Im not sure what this feelings about. I told Frankie about it and asked him if I should tell you and he said that I should. After all, youre the next best person I get along with he finished. Chris took another sip of his Coke and looked at Jesse. It could be anything Jess. Maybe youre just nervous cause you just broke up with your last girlfriend a couple of weeks ago said Chris thoughtfully. Who knows said Jesse tossing his soda into the garbage. Jess just calm down OK? You dont need to get all ecstatic about this. Its probably nothing and your making a big deal of it said Chris trying to calm him down. Sorry Chris. I dont know whats coming over me. Well, breaks over. Lets go back said Jesse, who sounded absentmindedly again, got up and walked out with the other guys back into the singing and dancing studio. While they were doing I Say Yeah and it was Jesses solo turn... Jesse McCartney!! I said watch where youre going!! Claudia yelled when Jesse had accidentally run into Chris. Jesse sighed. Was no 1 on his side today? Glad Ill be away from this soon he thought. He only had to last 1 more hour before getting realest. Jesse shook his head and went back to his spot in a bad mood. Chris watched him and saw that Claudia was talking so he walked over to him quickly. Hey, its ok Jess. It happens to all of us said Chris, knowing that if Jesse was in a bad mood when he met anyone, prepare for World War 3. He knew he needed to cheer him up before they left. Leave me alone Chris. Im fine so just stop worrying about me said Jesse coldly, glaring at Chris. Frankie saw this and turned around Jester chill! Its no big deal alright? We all mess up and we all have our off days, so theres nothing to worry about he said calmly. Jesse took a deep breath and looked away from them at nothing. Frankie turned around and Chris took a back step. He watched him before going back to his spot and said hey Jess, if ya need anything, Im here OK? Jesse looked at him and gave a weak smile thanks Chris. Hey, no problem. Were friends right? Course Chris, Im just in a bad mood today Jesse answered. Chris said in a better mood well, for Courtneys sake, you better be in a good mood when you leave. Jesse laughed Ill try. Good Chris nodded and smiled then walked back and took his spot. The music began and he took a step sideways..... (back in the other studio) Opps! Sorry Kayla apologized Aaron who had just ran into her and made her fall back onto the floor. {Is it just me or does this seem to be like a connection between the 2?? I mean, 2 blonds running into 2 people with brown hair... I shouldnt say that! Ill keep my mouth shut before Jesse gets mad... back to the story!!!} Its fine, dont worry Aaron she replied, helping herself back up. Aaron looked at her for a moment you sure? Yes! Im fine Aaron! Looks like theyre 2 people who are in a bad mood today... Aaron looked at her in a odd way whats up with you? I dunno... I guess Im just exited she lied. About what? I dont know Aaron! Everyone seemed to be listening to their conversation since the music stopped when Kayla fell. Kayla didnt care and she ignored the surprised looks for yelling at Aaron. Aaron glanced around quickly and walked back to his place. Sorry he said quietly. Kayla sighed and took her place again. Courtney, who happened to be standing next to her, asked girl, theres something wrong. Come on, you can tell me she said. I dont know... guess I just dont feel good today for some reason Kayla replied. Courtney whispered well, feel better soon. Chris will be here in like 10 minutes. Kaylas eyes widened. She had forgotten about that! She soon got into the music, and tried her best to forget about it. And, for a while, it worked. Break. 10 minuets called the director. Kayla walked with Courtney, Rachel, and Diana to the break room again, and sat down to rest. But before Kayla sat down with them, she looked for Aaron. I better apologize for yelling at him she thought. She saw Aaron walk through the door and she walked over to him. She called him aside hey Aaron? Aaron looked a bit nervous and mad at the same time uh... ya Kayla? Hey, I just wanted to say Im sorry for yelling at you back there. I dont know whats wrong with me. I guess I just dont feel good or something she said looking away from time to time. Aaron smiled. Its alright. I get that way sometimes to he said walking toward the table where the girls were. Thanks Kayla said smiling, and feeling relieved. She sat in a chair between Rachel and Courtney, and Courtney gave a suspicious smile, which meant Chris is coming, so dont worry. Youll be famous again in like, 5 minutes. Kayla smiled and nodded. The girls drank their drinks until a speaker started to fizz. The directors voice came out as everyone listened to the message Kayla, your friend is here and is on (could hear cause something happened and there was a loud beep kinda thingy) way over to the room. Everyone glanced at Kayla, who was smiling suspiciously to Courtney. Rachel looked at her whos picking you up? Diana asked whats this about Kayla? Im the only person who you know... well ya, except for you 3, but anyway, that drives. Youll see was all Courtney said. Melody asked you mean your in this 2 Court? Courtney didnt have a chance to answer, cause a new, young voice came into the room. Chris walked over to their table ready Kayla? She looked at Chris and smiled. Ya. Hang on, gotta say bye to everyone she said calmly. She leaned over and picked up her purse. She glanced around the table with everyones mouths open, except Courtney who was smiling, desperately trying to keep from bursting out with laughter. Kayla smiled and said sarcastically, but now showing it what is it with you guys? Its just Chris. Laura shouted just Chris?! She knew almost all eyes were on her. Ya. Its just Chris. Ya know, from Dream Street? Chris laughed. He turned to her is this your favorite thing to do or what? Kayla laughed and smiled its my favorite thing to do. I mean, they freaked when I told them about meeting you guys last night. I mean, its no big deal or anything that you and Jesse took me home- she tried to finish but was interrupted buy Rachel, who found her voice. Wait a sec! Chris and Jesse took you home?! Kayla turned to her, and pretended to look surprised you mean I didnt tell you guys that they took me home and that I was going out with Chris today? Opps, guess it slipped my mind.... She motioned Chris forward, then saw the look in Courtneys eyes, then turned around again. Have a fun time with Jesse Court. Tell me all about your date tomorrow OK? Sure Courtney answered casually like nothing was going on. Wow... their good actors thought Chris as he watched the surprised faces all over the room. See ya later guys. Have fun Courtney added. See ya tomorrow Kayla called back. When Kayla and Chris walked out of the room, they burst out laughing. Kayla was laughing so hard she studded when she tried to say bye to the director. They were still laughing when they reached Chriss car. Kayla desperately tried to catch her breath and stop. Finally, they both calmed down after Chris drove off. Oh jeeze.... OK, OK... Im calmed down now said Kayla taking a deep breath. Man, youre good at this acting stuff Kayla commented Chris. Thanks said Kayla. She noticed Chris had the radio on, and it was playing I Say Yeah. She only heard the last part of the 1st chorus, then Jesses voice... I might not be special, not like your superman, but liven, and loven, well that I super can! Chris noticed she was listening to it, and asked so... where do you want to go for lunch? Oh um... I dont really know any place. You can choose Chris said Kayla snapping back to reality. OK. I think the best place is over here. They have everything ya want said Chris turning into a different lane and passing a car. But they ended up stopping at a light and the same car they passed was right beside them in a different lane. The guy in the passenger seat rolled down his window and called hey, you shouldnt be passing people! You might hurt yourself by running into 1! Chris looked over. Kayla did the same, wondering what was going on. The guy beside him called ya! You could have hit us! Chris gave an odd look, and looked closer. Kayla said wait a sec... Frankie and Greg?! It was true. Greg was driving and Frankie was in the passenger seat, both laughing. Greg called hey man! You guys enjoying your date? Chris laughed and called well, we had a good start! Chris glanced at Kayla smiling, and Kayla smiled back, trying not to start laughing again. Frankie looked at the light well, its gonna change soon, call us or something when you drop Kayla off! Sure said Chris. See ya called Greg starting to pull up. Bye called Kayla. They started off, both going in different directions. Chris looked at Kayla well that was surprising, wasnt it? I guess. I mean, its not like Im expecting 2 guys from Dream Street to meet us on the road answered Kayla looking at Chris. (About 20 minutes later...) This sub is pretty good commented Kayla taking another bite of her big sub {dont ask where I got that from...}. Ya. I agree with you. So are these fries said Chris squirting some more ketchup on his plate. It wasnt anything special, but it was nice enough. They had had a lively conversation about things that Kayla didnt mention the night before. Kayla liked Chris, a lot. But she didnt know that it was just a feeling of meeting a new friend, and not the kind she thought. After lunch Chris drove around NY to show her places that he liked, or where to eat, or to just go to on their days off. And, his fav. places. {I know this isnt to exiting, but I dont want this chapter to be to long} Before they knew it, it was already 8:38! Jeeze times goes fast said Kayla looking at the clock when they got back from eating dinner. They had also run into Matt that day at the restaurant. What a day commented Chris with a sigh. Kayla looked at him tired? You can say that said Chris laughing a bit then smiling at her. Hmm... I guess I better be getting home. Diana will be suspecting things said Kayla looking away from Chris and blushing. Ya. You want to go out again tomorrow? Chris are you serious? Of course! You a good kind of girl. Wow. Sure Chris, Id love to. Great. Ill pick you up at Dianas aunts tomorrow so we wont have any heart attacks this time. They both laughed as Chris drove off. Chris asked did you have fun today? Kayla looked at him. Chris was watching the road. Of course Chris... I had a blast said Kayla a bit quietly for some reason. Chris glanced at her and smiled. Kayla smiled back. {20 minutes later} Bye Chris! See ya tomorrow! Bye Kayla called Chris. Kayla walked through the door, and down the hall into the bedroom where Diana was on her bed looking through her DS magazine for who knows how many times. Diana looked at her immediately when she opened the door I demand a full story on what happened. Even down to every very last detail. Kayla smiled and laughed. Sure, but its really no big deal said Kayla warningly. She sat down on her bed and told the whole story, from the time she stepped out of the break room to the time she walked into the door. Youre SO lucky Kayla! I know... I know.... Seriously! I know Diana. Ive been lectured on that before. Im 1 of the luckiest girls in the world because I get to date 1 of the guys from the newest and hottest band said Kayla rolling her eyes and flopping down on her pillow. Its the truth Kayla. You could still be somewhere else dating Ethan, ya know said Diana demandingly. You got a point. Told ya. So youre going out again tomorrow? Yep said Kayla turning out the light. Night Kayla. Night Diana. That night Kayla had a odd dream. It was hard to explain. It was like someone calling her. She turned around, noticing she was on a street somewhere at night. She looked around. It was the same street where she met Jesse for the 1st time. Freaky she thought. Someone was calling her name. She looked around with blurry vision. She saw a person in the distance. She looked closer, but was unable to see him or her. Finally, she decided it was a he, but that is as far detailed as it got. He said Im not the 1 you want Kayla... he is. Kayla asked confused what are you talking about? Youll find out in time said the boy. Kayla sat up quickly. She looked at the clock. 5:30. Jeeze... what a dream she thought laying back down. Kayla tried to figure it out, but was unsuccessful. Im not the 1 and Youll figure it out in time echoed in her mind. She finally drifted off to sleep. {2 days later... like 2 days after her 1st date with Chris} Kayla! Kayla! Huh? Oh sorry. You OK? Who knows Kayla plopped down on a couch in the break room with Courtney. She had gone on 2 more dates with Chris, but something was just not right. She had been off in a different world lately... but hided it when she was practicing. Girl, somethings up said Courtney. Figuring she would be the only person who would understand, she told Court about everything. Sorry girl, thats a tough 1. Im not no phycochology person said Courtney shaking her head. Courtney had also gone on 2 dates with Jesse. Its OK. But youre not said Aaron. Kayla didnt even seem to mind that Aaron was listening. Tell Chris. Hell probably understand suggested Court. OK. Ill ask him tonight assured Kayla. Aaron watched her. He shook his head and walked away. He had known Kayla for a long time, even before she joined his group. They were good friends. They were the youngest in the group, so were often by each others side even though they got in fights rarely. Suddenly, he felt a tight, yet quick hug around his shoulders. He turned around. Kayla was standing behind him smiling. Thanks for trying to help me Aaron. Youre a great friend. Aaron smiled back no problem Kay. That surprised Kayla. He hadnt called her that in a very long time, and if he did he was in a sad mood. Kayla looked worried you OK Aaron? You never call me that unless youre down. Somethings wrong, Ive known you long enough to realize that she said. Aaron could tell she was worried. Its nothing Kayla. Seriously. Im fine Aaron lied. Kayla didnt believe him, but walked away toward Courtney again. {In another studio} Earth to Jesse! Come in Jesse! What the? Oh dude! Man, sorry about that. Man, youre day dreaming again. I know Chris... somethings up and I dont know what it is said Jesse looking up to Chris. Someone called Jesse! Get in here now! Jesse got a scared look on his face, and walked out the door. Claudia was standing in the hallway. What is up with you today Jesse? Youve been lacking in singing and in dancing all day Claudia lectured. Im sorry. Im just not feeling right today I guess said Jesse with a shrug and he looked down at the floor. Well we need that old Jesse back OK? Just relax for a few minutes said Claudia, motioning the others to leave. Jesse sighed and sat down in a chair after the others left. This was getting out of control. He had his head in his hands the whole time, even when Frankie came in to get him. Dude, ya know you only got a half-an-hour before you can leave to see Courtney again he informed. Thats a good thing. Chris just left to get Kayla. He told me to tell you that he said bye. Dude, lighten up! Im trying Frankie. {In a park} Chris and Kayla were walking around, looking at the flowers and stuff. Kayla was telling him about how she was off in space a lot, and something was wrong but she couldnt recognize it. I thought youd understand Chris finished Kayla. Chris thought for a long while. Finally, all the pieces came together. Kayla didnt like him, she liked Jesse, and was being hurt by him being so casual around her but didnt realize it. Jesse didnt like Courtney, he liked Kayla and was hurt cause Kayla acted like hes a no big deal around him. Chris turned around. By now, they were on the same street where Kayla 1st met Jesse. He faced Kayla, which scared her. Kayla listen. You dont like me OK? You like someone else. What! What are you talking about Chris? Of course I like you! No you dont! Just think. You dont want me, you want someone else. You wanted me as a friend. Were not that kind Kayla. Were just friends. Thats all. You want someone else said Chris firmly. He lead her to his car and they left. Kaylas eyes were full of tears. Suddenly, something popped into her mind. My dream! This is the same as my dream! She looked at Chris, who didnt even glance at her the hole way back. They finally arrived at Dianas aunts house. Chris helped her out, knowing she was crying. Listen Kayla. Dont worry. If you just think, itll all come together said Chris calmly. He hugged her smiled and opened his door. Bye Kayla. Dont take this to serious OK? A-alright Chris. Goodnight said Kayla with sadness in her voice. She watched as Chris drove away. She unlocked the door and walked into their bedroom. She saw mail on her dresser, and opened it. She smacked her hand over her mouth trying not to scream. Miss Kayla, we regret to inform you that your cousin, Ashley, has been killed in a car accident. A speeding car at a big intersection hit her and the driver on a highway. She has wished to have given you a few things, and they will be given to you when you return. Her cousin Ashley, who was like an older sister to her, was dead. She burst into tears, crying loudly while laying on the bed. Diana wasnt there because she was once again spending the night at a friends house. She had known Ashley ever since the moment she was born. Ash was only 1 year older than her, but Kayla used to look up to her. Now she was gone. Kayla was left alone sobbing on her bed that night. And she had just figured out she loved Jesse... {going back 1 hour} Hey Court, can I ask you something? Sure Jess, shoot said Courtney walking down the sidewalk. Jesse took a deep breath are we just friends? Courtney was taken aback by this question. Of course Jesse, what did you think? I mean, I like you and all but I dont like you in that kind of way she answered honestly. Jesse was sad. He thought Courtney liked him. He sighed. He remembered that question clearly. Now he was walking alone back to his own house. Suddenly, someone was calling him Jesse! Wait up man! He turned around. Chris? Hey man. Whats up? Jesse explained the whole story. Chris faced him just like he did Kayla, and told him the same thing, except in was Courtney instead of Chris. Chris drove him home silently. Thanks for the ride said Jesse getting out. No prob. said Chris. Jesse walked into his house and into his room. He flopped down on his bed and turned on the radio. 1 of the A*Teens new songs was out. But something was odd about this. He had heard this song several times before, but the voice that sang the 1st part was different... Its Kaylas voice?! And it was. It was like his conscience was trying to tell him something... the verse played in Kaylas voice... Ill be waiting just around, the corner of your eye. If you knew how many nights... Ive been sitting by your bed, running fingers through your hair while youre resting. Every time I call your name, softly whisper in your ear... you turn around to look for me and no ones there. Suddenly, it was all clear! He liked Kayla! Kayla was the 1! He reached for his cell and dialed Chriss #. Dude Chris, I know who it is! You do? Ya! I love Kayla! Shes the 1 I wanted all along! Good job Jesse. But what if she hasnt figured out if she likes you? Like I say Chris, I gotta get that girl. No matter what said Jesse firmly. There ya go Jess. Good luck said Chris smiling. Jesse hung up before he even said bye. He realized I forgot to ask him what Kaylas number is! Like someone was with him, Timmy came through the door at that moment, shouting Jesse! Jesse! Jesse looked at him what is it? Chris told me to give this to you cause you might need it said Timmy and he handed Jesse a paper. Jesse opened it and it turned out to be.... Kaylas number! Wow thanks Tim! Youre welcome said Timmy walking happily out of his brothers room. Jesse thought it over for a minute than ran out of his room... {back to Kayla} She now knew it was Jesse all along. She was just exited about Chris being her friend so she thought the wrong thing. She cried harder. Jesse didnt like her, Chris didnt, her cousin also known as her older sister was dead, and she was alone in a big room. Surprisingly the doorbell rang. Kayla got up and wiped her face Now who would be here at what...10:37 at night? She walked up to the door and opened it... Jesse?! What are you doing here? Its raining and youre soaked! Come in said Kayla pulling the wet boy in. Jesse looked at her. Her eyes are red. She must have been crying thought Jesse. Kayla lead him to her bedroom where she sat down on her bed and Jesse sat next beside her. She asked, choking back a sob n-now why are you here? Jesse looked at her straight in her eyes.
