The DAR is a non-profit, non-political service organization formed
in 1890 and devoted to promoting Historic Preservation, Education, and
Patriotic Endeavor. Joining the DAR is a chance to give something back
to the United States of America. It is a way to keep American and family
history alive. It gives women a straight path to conservation, education,
and women's issue accomplishments.
The DAR gives expression to the concepts of God, Home and Country.
For younger women, it is the opportunity to add to their resume
showing contribution to community service.
Membership is a unique opportunity to establish one's lineage and heritage
as a descendant of a patriot of the American Revolution. American
citizenship is not a requirement for membership.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, and must be able to prove lineal, bloodline decent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence.
