NEWTONS APPLE

I caught an apple falling
and wondered what I missed
There were greater wonders crawling
than in that cumbered fist
Is the apple one because no others fell
Or is it merely realbeing potent hail?
I further guessed its reason:
to dazzle and obscure
How to spy its shadow, or what its shadow holds
if pursuit in this direction distracts me from my chores?
Is this an apple-thought Ive had
while I descried its coming
or only passing-gentleness usurped by brutal cunning?
