DRYADS

The intractible keep of the wakening storm
the intractible peace of the silence above
The weeping leaves writhe closer and closer
As the travelers stand under shadows

The lamp placates the darkness
drawing more curious eyes
and the damp leaks through the willows
and the damp sweetens the ground

Through the alleys of impossible distractions
through the damp sweetening curious eyes
in the lamp of softening wonder
tears pour from my eyes

In the city bleary with lights
Under a clouded sun
the people garnish the shadows
The sun speaks on the rain

Knowing the unshakeable loss
knowing the bank of perennials
loneliness leans on my name.
