Transformations: The Door is an abreviation of the Road, representing the basic elements of the life-stream. The closed door is tau, and can be represented with ?lambda inscribed above, producing delta, with a shaft. In this form it represents the powerful underworkings of the subconscious, and possibly the soul that survives before birth and after death. It is the numinous elevator that plunges us in and out of conscious being, and the indelible mark of entering into the covenant of life. There may be a relation to the Fish, as the arrow is similar in shape, having fins and floating. The open door is pi, the gate, symbolizing danger and ultimately death, although it relates to omicron, as all human life is bound by this rule. It may be that the lambda is inscribed again above the doorway, only this time each line extends down to form an A-frame with two small columns framing a doorway. This represents that the open door is bound by the law of the closed door, but that life here is characterized by idealism, or hope (I dare you to "abandon hope, ye who enter here"). It is important to keep in mind that because the door represents mortality, the entire lambda Road journey takes place within its boundaries (open, shut).
