Wow - another fabulous Thursday. Time is just flying by....can you believe it's already March? We've already done New Years, Valentine's Day, and we're coming up fast on St. Patrick's Day and Easter (and, of course, Tax Day...for which I still need to come up with an inordinate amount of money *sigh*)
My friend told me this morning that kids are killing each other again, all over the US. I told her, of course, that there is a very good reason I do not watch the news or read newspapers. You'd be amazed at how many people want to tell you about all the bad stuff that happens in the world. Why bother reading it? The people who do seem to have memorized all the facts anyway and are more than happy to regale you with all the juicy information. The only price tag for all this knowledge of what's happening in the world? You have to listen to their opinion on all the problems in the world. Fine by me, I find that papers and television have editorials all the time...at least this way I can kind of choose what kind of editorial I'm in the mood for.
Everyone thinks they're an expert. I even have an "armageddon" friend. The one who thinks that all signs of violence of the world are sure fire signs that the world is about to end. Rapture and all that.
Hey! Speaking of rapture....have you ever seen those bumper stickers proclaiming "In case of Rapture - this car will be unmanned" ? Why are those always on the oldest, rustiest, loudest, squeakiest cars in the world? I mean, don't get me wrong, I know the answer to the question, I just wondered if anyone else even noticed this phenomenon. In my mind it ranks right up there with joining the Masons and then using clear packaging tape to attach the little symbols to the back of your car (Yes, I've seen this) ... Why do people feel the need to advertise the fact that they have no class? They don't care, perhaps...or maybe they don't realize that's what it comes down to.
Gauche - it's a word that should be used so much more often than it is currently. It's prevelant everywhere in society. If you're still not sure what I mean by gauche, just think "black suede ankle boots with fringes" they would be UberGauche if and only if the boots are imitation suede. That's classic, man, classic....(Yes, I've seen this as well)
I didn't do anything last night. Not one singular bloody thing. It was fabulous. I really enjoy the relaxing, being alone days. My cousin and I watched a movie, that I highly recommend to anyone who likes movies you can only describe as "interesting" and while watching you find yourself saying "What the f**k?" more than usual. It's called But I'm a Cheerleader and is one of the oddest movies I've ever seen. The colors alone were something straight out of ... well ... preschool? Very solid, vibrant colors, no shades really. Primary colors. Lots and lots and lots of pink too.
I still haven't decided if I really like getting up in the morning having no idea how my day will end. Some days it's this fabulous, free, wonderful feeling ... knowing anything is possible and I'm ready for anything. Other days I get up and wonder how I let everything get so out of control. I feel like I should set a shrine up in my apartment...
- Eris, Goddess Of Chaos, Discord & Confusion
Doesn't that sounds like a healthy, positive message? Why does freedom feel so...well...vast? I don't know. I'm starting to try and get deep again, and when that happens I usually end up swallowing water, choking, and going back to the shallow little kiddie pool where I feel ever so much more comfortable.
