DMA Drum Major of the Month

    Celisse Allegra Henderson is a Senior at Deer Valley High School in Antioch, California, and this is her first year as a drum major. Celisse has been involved in music all her life. She has played many instruments along the years to include piano, sax, tuba, flute, and many more, but her first love was in percussion.
     Celisse became a member of DVHS's drumline as a freshmen playing mallett. As a sophomore, she moved on to play the quads. In her junior and senior year she has been center snare and captain of the percussion line. Celisse is the first drum mjaor ever in the history of Deer Valley to be the percussion captain and drum major.
     Celisse attended USA's drum major camp in the summer of 2001, and came home with 11 ribbons, a superior drum major plaque, and was given the prestigous award of being "the most distingushed drum major", of the Santa Barbara summer camp 2001. Celisse has also won many competitions during the past parade season. Out of 6 band reviews, Celisse placed at 5 of them, winning 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place.
      Although Celisse is heavily involved in band, her first love is singing. Her plans after graduation in June of 2003 is to attend the American Musical and Dramtic academy in Manhatten, New York, to aquire a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
