Morgan's Milestones -- Age 2
Year One
Age One
Morgan turned 2 on December 17, and we can hardly believe where the time has gone! Our baby is little lady now, and enjoyed her birthday party on the 15th. She had been in regular clothes until right before the party, and was a little cranky because she had resisted taking a nap that day. Grandma Baumer helped her get dressed in her dress for the party, and suddenly Morgan transformed into this happy, dancing girl, showing off for everyone. It was funny to watch! You can see pictures of her party here.

Morgan does seem to have an interest in what she wears. One day, Mom tried some new jeans on her. After getting them on, Morgan looked at her pants and said, "Cute!" Apparently, she approved. She does not like to wear socks, and we often find her socks in random places around the house where she has taken them off. She will let us put socks on if we are also putting her shoes on so we can go somewhere. Then she will ask, "Where we going?" Her imagination is blossoming, and she has been playing by herself a little bit more lately. Although, she still likes to do whatever Andrew is doing, too. She has also picked up some "Andrew-isms" with her speech. When you ask her a question, she might think for a minute and say, "Um .. probably ..." which is something Andrew does. She also quickly picked up on "One more thing!" as we try to put her down for a nap or at bedtime.

On
January 10, Morgan had her two-year check up. She has grown 4 inches and 4 pounds since her 18 month check, putting her at 35 1/2 inches and 30 lbs. The doctor asked her if her brother was teaching her how to talk. She said, "Yes." He also asked if Andrew sings and dances. She thought about that for a few seconds and then said, "I dance!" She does love to sing and dance. If she's in a bad mood, just turn on some music and dance with her, and she will switch to happy Morgan!

We haven't been very good at updating this page lately. In
June, Morgan turned 2 1/2, and she has become a chatter box and can often be heard singing. She knows her colors, shapes and can count into the teens pretty well. In the past few months she has become aware that she is a girl and she loves to watch other girls. One day, some girls went by our house on scooters. Morgan said, "Look, Mom, those are girls! I love girls!" She also likes people to watch her. "Look at me!" and "Watch me!" are commonly heard at our house. She also asks lots of questions, particularly "Why?" She is quite independent, and likes to try to do things herself. She often will re-do things if we attempt to do them for her. The most dramatic instance was when we went to Uncle Bert and Aunt Lisa's church for Briella's dedication service in May. Morgan was walking up the stairs and Dad picked her up to keep the crowd moving faster. Morgan was not happy about that! As soon as we sat down in the chapel, she ran back out into the hallway and towards the stairs so she could do it again by herself. Morgan is very excited to be a big sister soon. She likes to tell people that Mom has a baby in her tummy. She also can often be found reading her "I'm a Big Sister" book. She has most of it memorized.
