Morgan's Milestones
Morgan's milestones from the womb can be found here.
You can read about Morgan's arrival here.

Morgan had a check up when she was 10 days old. She had gained back her birth weight and a couple ounces, weighing in at 8 lbs. 7 oz. At about 3 weeks of age she had grown some more and was 10 lbs.

Also around 3 weeks, people started asking us if she was smiling. We thought it was a bit early to be smiling, but it sure seemed like she was. Between 4 and 5 weeks, we were sure she was smiling, and she was doing it a lot! Anyone who talks to her is usually rewarded with a big smile. She also loves to
coo and talk to us.

Morgan's two month check up was
Feb. 17, and she weighed 12 lbs. 7 oz. and was 23 inches long. That places her between the 75th and 90th percentiles for girls. Everything else checked out just fine, too. She was only bothered by her shots when they were given, and she was her happy self the rest of the day. She didn't follow in her brother's footsteps and sleep all night after her shots, but she has gone 7 hours at night a couple times and she usually only gets up once. So, we really can't complain!

The night of
April 20, Morgan slept through the night for the first time! She slept nearly 12 hours, and probably would have gone longer, but Mom decided to wake her up at 8:30 a.m. She is now grabbing small toys and figuring out how to use her hands and arms. She is very close to rolling over from her back to her tummy, but she gets stuck on her arms.

At Morgan's 4 month check-up on
April 27, she weighed 15 lbs. 12 oz. and was 25 inches "tall." Since we last updated this, she has continued to sleep all night and has learned to roll over. She sometimes squeals with delight as she rolls! She is quite the happy baby, and we continue to be amazed at her cheerful disposition!

As of
June 1, Morgan is rolling over very well and is able to sit up on her own.  She loves to reach for and grab anything she can get her hands on!!  She is eating rice cereal and oatmeal as well as starting to eat fruits and veggies.  She seems to like all the new foods that she tries.  Her teeth are also coming in although none have broke through yet.

Where has time gone?  On
June 17 Morgan turned a half a year old!  On June 21 she had her 6 month check up.  She weighed in a 17 pounds even (75th percentile) and was 26 inches long (60th percentile).

In
early July, Morgan is beginning to scoot around a bit when she sees something she wants to grab. And she does not like it when we take something away that she isn't supposed to have. (Or if her brother steals something that he thinks is his.) Everywhere we go, people say, "Wow! Look at her smile! She must be in a good mood!" And we are happy to reply that she seems to be that way most of the time. And even though her brother is sometimes mean to her, Andrew is Morgan's favorite friend! She LOVES to be around him and gets very excited to see him!

Morgan now has two little
bottom teeth poking thru her gums! One popped in on July 14 and the other on the 18th. Morgan also is getting more mobile by the day! She pushes with her feet and reaches and pulls with her arms while laying on her tummy to get to things around the room. It's a mini-army crawl that gets more productive by the day.

The first week of
August, Morgan figured out how to crawl. And within a few days she was crawling all over the house! She loves to follow her brother around, or go exploring on her own. Andrew is still her buddy, but she is becoming more vocal when he does something she doesn't like, such as stealing her toy or touching her. She is also able to pull herself up onto her knees if she wants to get a different view or get our attention. On August 17 Morgan turned 8 months old!

We've been reminded how much development happens at Morgan's age with all of her new discoveries. She has learned to pull herself up onto her
feet, climb stairs, and clap her hands!

Morgan had her 9 month check-up on
September 19. (Where has the time gone??) She continues to grow and now weighs 19 lbs. 9 oz. and is 28 1/2 inches tall. She has been babbling for a while now. Her favorite phrases are "da da da da," "ga ga ga ga," and "ya ya ya ya!" She is a wiggle worm and doesn't like to lay still to get her diaper changed. She spends a lot of time pulling herself up onto her feet, and she has mostly figured out how to get herself back down when she wants. She is becoming more interested in books and likes to turn the pages as we read to her.

Morgan will be 10 months old on
October 17. She now has her two top front teeth. She's continuing to learn new things. Her latest tricks include "cruising" or walking along while holding onto things, such as the couch, cupboards, etc. She also sometimes pushes large toys, like Drew's riding tractor, and walks behind them. She also seems to be deciding that her brother isn't always her favorite person. She gets mad when he does evil things like touching her. Most of the time, though, they are still buddies and like to be together.

Morgan turned 11 months old in
November. Her latest trick is to stand up, as in getting up from a seated position, without holding on to anything. She is starting to decide that sippy cups are OK, and she loves to eat table food. She usually prefers to pick food up on her own and not be fed by other people. She again loves her brother all of the time, as long as he doesn't steal her toys. The tables have turned and she seems to be the one causing Andrew grief now.

In early
December, Morgan gained two more teeth on the top, giving her six. She has mastered speed crawling and loves to walk around if someone holds her hand. On December 12, she took her first steps on her own for her Daddy. She is starting to get more brave and take more steps, but she knows she can get around much quicker on her knees.

We celebrated Morgan's
first birthday on December 17 with a big party! We can't believe she is one already! She continues to be a sweet, smiley girl, and we can't imagine what our lives would be like without her! She has taken a love to stuffed animals and dolls and was very excited to get several dolls for her birthday. She also got a stroller to push them in, a bus (although, if you ask Drew the bus is his), s mixer, some toy food and her very first purse! It's fun to have some girly things in the house! She is also sporting one more new tooth, that must have arrived near her birthday. She'll probably have eight little toothers soon. She got a clean bill of health at her one-year check-up on December 19. She was 29 1/2 inches and weighed 21 lbs. 9 oz.
