Naturopathic Healing Modalities
Naturopathic Doctors are trained to be primary care providers.  Although Florida does not currently license N.D.s, there are a variety of treatment modalities that may be used to offer consultation from a naturopathic perspective.  Among these modalities are the following:

Clinical Nutrition: Whole food is the most natural and best medicine.  With an in depth look at specific eating patterns and how the body reacts to what you eat, specific healthful suggestions can be made to assure that you are properly absorbing the nutrients you are eating.  At times, nutria-ceutical supplementation may be necessary to regain control over certain vitamin/mineral deficiencies.

Botanical Medicine
: Using plant derived substances as tools to initiating a healing response from the body without harming its natural environment, have been utilized for centuries.  When prescribed by a practitioner who is familiar with the myriad of applications of herbal medicines, they are a safe and effective tool for addressing acute and chronic conditions.

Physical Medicine
: Naturopaths are trained in a wide variety of physical techniques, such as therapeutic manipulation of the spine and joints, ultrasound, micro-current, TENS- muscle stimulation, massage, hydrotherapy, and traction.   When  properly applied, these methods will facilitate healing for acute and chronic issues, in smaller joints, as well as, spinal misalignments and muscular imbalances.

Homeopathy
: Based on the principle of Like cures like, homeopathy has been practiced throughout the world for over 200 years.  This, Law of Similars, means that a substance that is capable of producing symptoms in a healthy person, when specially prepared in high dilution, can bring relief to a person who is ill and suffers from similar symptoms.  This medicine works efficiently as first aid to treat shock and trauma, to stop bleeding and swelling, and to relieve pain.
Homeopathys most promising work is in the treatment of chronic, including, but not limited to, arthritis, skin conditions, allergies, hormonal issues, fatigue, digestive and neurological diseases.

Hydrotherapy
: Hydrotherapeutic methods have been utilized for over a thousand years.  The most powerful method of water healing embraced by Naturopathy is contrast hydrotherapy.  There are many other ways in which the healing power of water can be used as a daily to supplement to a wellness program.

Psychological Medicine
: In practice, Naturopaths use a multitude of techniques to assist their patients in gaining perspective and balancing their mental health, thus affecting their overall well being.  Counseling, stress management, Cranio-sacral therapy, and EFT (Emotional Freedon Technique) are a few of the tools available for use in achieving mental health.

Naturopathic physicians are also trained in areas of minor surgery, IV therapy, Laboratory diagnosis and interpretation, and female and male wellness examinations.  Dr. Lipham is a licensed Naturopath in the state of Maine, yet until Florida expands its scope of practice to Naturopathic medicine these tools are unavailable for her use
