MISTRESS
"II, The Chronovisor"
From Birmingham four zozzoni they unload hatred and violence producing slaughter with a ` total fucking doom/grind/sludge' that it takes you to the stomach as little large ones bands can be allowed to make...
All the members of the Mistress support already in English others bands that in the underground enough are known like Anaal Nathrakh, Frost, Benediction, Fukpig, Sally, Katastrophe Wife, etc (played every a lot, made happy they!).
every a strong album in its point is for pieces that for the production passing for artwork (second me the cover is wonderful).
Nine bombs of acidissimo and powerful also evil sludge grind have upset to me and hit endured to the first one I listen, the successes are you use to accustom to me.
Fast direct pieces that do not lack strizzare the eye to sonorit that they come near to the doom and without the rag of a assolo if not sporadic issued note sequences iperveloci nearly to wonderful case...!
The tenor and the attitude of these rovinacervelli  are understood to the moment from the marciume of the songs: of it he gives to sentore the titles them rat piss and piss for blood and shit for brains...
Pieces march therefore, those marciume difficult to obtain in know it of recording and that from very well that discreet touch of disease in more to violent pieces already psicopati to us and.
The guitar scratches records and dismantles hard the boneses of the skull that invano protegger your brain by now become pappetta for the frogs.
The low grinder the vlves that goes straight to the stomach without mercy and renders sound full and powerful the Mistress.
I listen made in apnea. The breath comes to lack already to the first cannonata one rat piss; full load grind destructive Core following psychic one inch punch; headbanging non-stop obligatory with hell is other people, song from the great transport; estremizzato spirit rock' nroll from sfuriate grind in wanker colony; strange instrumental it is the titletrack chronovisor; and therefore via... remaining pieces they are all that that has been said: sludge, grind, hardcore miscelati in optimal optimal way... the closing of the album with nearly the 13 minuteren of pearl 38.
Mastodontica is the test of singer the Dave Cunt: chissa what could find otorinolaringoiatra in bottom to the its throat... fact is that it does not stop of fottersi ugola and vocal ropes that come cured, as the same Cunt asserts, to secchiate of beer... last curiosity that renders the frontman more likeable in issue is the fact that once salito(ovviamente drunk) on the theater box it is avezzo to complete sciocchezze of the type to sing under a table like a sick one of mind in preda goodness knows which fobia, still demanding of being beaten, or to complete violence (supplex) on the chitarrista while sound... a giocherellone insomma that he has asserted to love the evenings with "to horrible atmosphere and blood etc".
Large Insomma a beautiful one band that it has produced a chicca for who loves flavored the Bongzilla school and Eyehategod from cruenta the violence of the riff grindcore.Buon I listen.

REVIEW OF LONDON GARAGE GIG W/ LABRAT, MURDER ONE AND CRIMINAL
Don't expect me to draw a family tree for Mistress things become far too incestuous.  Basically this band also has members in the harsh Necro (never to play live) Anaal Nathrakh.  Also Fukpig a band that I realy didn't care for live last time I caught them and Frost.  A chat with crummer and host of fast rising NecroDeath studio Irrumator gave me an insight that they really like getting bad reviews.  Well sorry to disappoint as my first encounter with Mistress was a blinder.  They came on with a blast of pure distortion and a rumble that sounded like an explosion in a bone yard.  Singer Dave Cunt was not content to stay on the stage and took to the floor where he began battling with anyone who dared come near him.
This was necrotic funeral doom of the highest order.  Stoner sludge vibes and intensely hard rifs that shook the place down exploded.  I was slightly reminded of Iron Monkey but if anything it was more a case of Plutonium Gibbon the likes of which could reinvent a genre (how about Armageddon Scuzz Doom anyone?).  As heavy as it was it was also a strangely mellowing experience with waves of treacly noise washing over me.  The old punk noise Discharge vibe was ever present.  Bass player Dirty was a focus of attention and handled his instrument like he was trying to get into an Olympic archery squad.  He even played it on the metal bar at the front of the stage and no one was surprised when a string broke.  Then Dirty decided to play on the dance floor as well and with a prospective riot in the offing that was it game over.  I know the lead track off new self-titled album was amongst all the carnage and this was certainly a case of Bludgeon by name and nature.

This gig was 21/6/02, Johnny Morrow's last gig.  RIP.

SHORT REVIEW FOR THE VERGE GIG
...By this stage those gathered here are noticably the worse for wear, but that's just the way those brummie degenerates Mistress like it. A regular satanic chimps tea party of a band, this fearsome fivesome's fetid aggro-necro-monkey stinks of booze and mildew, yet forms a superbly entertaining and defiling live experience. A suitably messy conclusion to a nicely chaotic evening.

8/10 METAL HAMMER
Really couldn't dream of topping the press release for this: "From the writhing social underbelly of darkest Birmingham, monstrous slabs of monolithic grinding doom sludge, drunken chos, agonising slow mammoth sounds" - blimey. sounds like fun don't it?
Which it is actually, less the slow death you might think than a fantastic trip around the adolescent Brummagem mindset, a place where songs like "stuntcock" and "dvda" can simultaneosly sum up the feel of being mouth raped in a Smethwick subway AND that groggy 15-year-old ache in the groin after the eigth wank of the day.
Strap this into your walkman and go for a stroll down your local park with a can of gas tucked up each sleeve and a sock fulla chinese stars.

What the fucks up with the rage of achilles guy?Not content with inflicting the purulent disease of Goatsblood on the world, now we have got psychotic Birmingham slacker cuntsMistress to contend with; pioneers of a sound so fucking ugly, dangerous and foul i can only describe it as dirty-needlecore. Fresh from annoying the fuck out of all the death metal cunts at the Bolt Thrower gig (turns out they havent got 3 bassists as i erroneously reported, but so sickeningly deep and fuzzy was the guitar sound i was forced to conclude this band had triple pronged lowend), Mistress drop their first piece of album-shit on our grimacing faces and we hate it, and we fucking love it. A thoroughly debasing experience, 'Mistress' is where the grimmest, most spitefull black fucking metal collides with the nauseating sewage-grooves of Iron Monkey and Eyehategod, wrapped in a bloody tissue of flat earthy crust punk. Theres not much black metal here musically, except on the innocuously-titled cavmanwhirlwind of 'Rebecca', but with the cunts from Anaal Nathrakh on board your guaranteed a gutfull of necrotic vitriol and misanthopy, albeit discharged in a rather differant direction than on 'Codex Necro'.
However, for me the album only transends its influences and fulfills its potentiol on its second half; the first five songs are fine, especially 'Necronaut', but there on a level of moderate, upbeat unpleasentness that wont pump many stomaches. However, '5th in line' is a leaden storm of malace, 'DVDA'  is a skin peeling blast- beaten holocaustwind, and the majestic Lord worm' kills the album dead with a murderous clatter of diseased black doom-sludge.
Ahalf-awsome barrage of filth, then , even beeting the latest weedeater for sheer rank unplesentness. if they can take this fetid dementia up a notch on their second album, we're fucked

4/5 in ROCK SOUND
Stoke gave us Charger, Corby gave us Speedhorn - and now weve got Mistress from Birmingham. a band who sound like they rehearse in some piss n puke-filled alleywaywhile the local bike gives them the clap. Quite honestly, if the title hadnt already been taken, this album should have been called Scum for thats what it is. The likes of Goatboy and stuntcock are bile-filled outbursts that laugh horribly at you while twisting the pint into your face, before throwing you on the follr and pissing on you from a great height. Mistress blatently dont give a fuck with their distorted, horrible anthems for the antisocial youth sounding so raw that they make fellow Brummies Napalm Death sound like they were brought up in positive luxury. Put it this way, avoid if your feeling a tad sucicidal. Fackin orrible

EVIL WOMAN
Mistress: Brit sludge gets a sick and brutal makeover
Since the demise of the deservedly revered Iron Monkey, a seemingly endless stream of bands have emerged, all bearing the simian ones trademarks: foul twisted sabbath riffs and drunk-in-charge-of-a-larynx vocals.
Unfortunately, very few of these bands have been fit to sniff the ground beneath the Monkeys feet.
Sludge metal might sound easy to do, but it takes a degree of intelligence - not to mention a level of psychopathic drunkeness - which few can hope to attain.
And while by no means a replica of Iron Monkey, Mistress are the finest such band by a country mile. A shambolic bunch of reprobates and hooligans who describe their music as "Necro Doom", their vocalist is called Dave Cunt (reason enough to buy at least one copy of this album imediately), songs come with uniformly great tiltles like "Stunt Cock" and "Goatboy" and members of Anaal Nathrakh, arguably the UK's most brutal band, are involved. As such "Mistress" was always going to be a classic.
in fact, it is the foulest, most depraved-sounding sludge album scince label mates Goatsblood's astonishing, self titled debut - and the first of its kind to bring black metal's chilling bleakness to the fore.
Within seconds of album opener Bludgeon the stench of cheap cider and dried vomit is positively tangible. Ranging from ridiculously slow, hypnotic doom riffs to savage spastic grindcore - all delivered amid the kind of low-budget production values we normally associate with early black metal bands like Dark Throne - Mistress tunes are one mean-spirited, backstreet stabbing after another. Oozing spite and unidentified bodily fluids, this is so far from the cosy world of stoner/desert rock that it almost seems unfair to draw comparison. This is what Nedula would sound like if long-dead sicko GG Allin had been creative consultant and the band's drug supply was laced with toilet cleaner and three month old yogurt.
Mistress is masterfully vile and serves as the perfect antidote to polite pop-punk and the ernest nu-metal. its also one of the best albums, from any genre, that you'll hear this year. A work of disgusting genius, no less.

MISTRESS LIVE REVIEW IN TERRORIZER 97
Having Mistress on this bill is rather like pissing in your childs dinner
spoiling the old-school death metal party by having three short haired bassists (dunno what this means!!!)
and a smiths t-shirt on stage, this aggro-sludge-grind combo, featuring members of
Anaal Nathrakh and Sally and , for tonight only, the singer from Labrat hammer home a caustic, schizoid set.
Theryve come a long way for a band who admit they started as "an Iron Monkey rip-off", though
there are still shades of their mentors in the unpleasent, scowling low-end grooves.
While plenty have cleaned up the Our Problem vibe for mass consumption Mistress seem intent to go even further down the couldnt-give-a-shit-if-you-live-or-die path, vomiting out some nihlistic, antisocial and genuinely horrible sounds.
All of which makes the return of Benediction a blessing for the leather clad purists and some light relief after the abrasive dirty-needle core of Mistress ...........
Oh yeah and the same gig was reviewed in Kerrap and they said we sound like Napalm Death but with out the power!!! so we ignored that one.

MISTRESS IN ROCKSOUND
Review in november issue of Rocksound
Mistress have some great stage names - Dave cunt Misery Dirty Drunkan and migg. They called their first release Vol 1 .. fuck off and their new four tracker Lord Worm and for that we must respect this Birmingham based troupe. God of rock kicks offf with discordent blast-beat grindcore mayhem, before Goatboy dirges its way through the speakers. For fans of Iron Monkey ,Charger, eyehategod and all things fucked up.

REVIEW FROM RHYTHM AND BOOZE
September / October 2001
Lord worm is the follow up to Birmingham based sludgecore heroes Mistress's first release Vol 1 fuck off. Mistress scince their formation have played with the likes of Raging speedhorn, Extreme Noise Terror. Electric Wizard and Clutch amongst others honing their sound into the ferocious sludge driven dark hate fuelled metal.
To compare Mistress to anyone else would be unfair as they have their own sound but you could mention the likes of charger, eyehategod and the late Iron Monkey as reference points
the opening number on here God Of Rock is an intense blast of a song that could be classed as a death metal number the beats are harsh and fast with the vocals of Dave Cunt coming accross as a terrorfying growl. its the kind of track that doesnt mess around its nasty and blunt. In contrast Goatboy is a slower paced number it has doomy down tuned bass rumbles, its a lengthy number that sees the band really set out on a bastardised groove that once again complemented by those hate filled vocals. Stuntcock has the band mixing time changes beginning with a death metal pace drum beat before slowing towards a black sabbath kind of pace with out losing any of the power in the process. The title track finishes the cd in a gloomy style with its down trodden riffs and anguished screams. Giving the track a real weighty feel yet the sound never labours and somehow they keep that ridiculously heavy groove throughout.
Mistress are an impressive beast, the cd shows a band that create music thats extreme and doom ridden without becoming boring .Also a number of bands that atempt the same kind of sound come accross weak on cd whereas this sounds intense and you can l ny imagine that live theyll be terrorfying. Given the right exposure Mistress should really make a mark and maybe fill the void left by Iron Monkey.

SALLY Vs KHANG, BRADFORD 1 in 12 CLUB, 28/07/01

The main reason I came to see this gig was to see Khang. I had already seen Sally at Rios and hadn't thought much to their sound. However due to an unfortunate case of a mislaid drummer Khang were not able to play tonight. However Mistress were able to step in at the last minute. I have to admit I'd never heard of the band before tonight but I certainly liked what I saw. Big fat chunky riffs with Iron Monkey style vocals. The sound was supreme. 8/10

LORD WORM REVIEW FROM ESOTERICA WEBZINE

Jesus, this is intense stuff. I don't often listen to this particular kind of music (in fact, I'm struggling to get a handle on even a vague label for it), but this is damn fine, and very, very heavy indeed. Broadly speaking, we have here an ugly, urban chunk of downtuned, sludgy doom rock with frighteningly abrasive vocals, somewhere in the ballpark of Iron Monkey and Eyehategod, with maybe a smattering of influence from the more regular doom-rock environs of, say, Goatsnake, varying in speed from ponderous US-style doom to one and a half minute blasts of screaming rage. However, theres no morbid despondency, no silly bouncing riffs and no whining about social injustice going on here- no, sir, this music represents hate and the desireto beat the shit out of people, and its easy to tell that despite the lack of a lyric sheet. There are clouds of hate forming around the speakers. The delivery and songwriting is very well developed indeed, too. Take the middle section of highlight Goatboy, for example, it promises a riff with lone guitars before exquisitely crushing it into your head with full co-operation of the band and playing it over and over again with each note emphasised by a single pound from the drums...and then doing it all over again until your ears melt. Everything sounds so deliberate and confident, right down to the production, which gives an earth-shattering, overpowering sound to the guitars, but leaves a ragged, clattery edge to the drums, which really brings out the primal rage of the material. Seeing them live is next on my 'things to do' list, for I have little doubt that this material will be punishing when presented inches before the face. Listening to Lord Worm is like being trapped under a piledriver.

MISTRESS REVIEW ON MP3.COM RADIO STATION

Ugly British music, just absolutely vile. Slack and Bluesy, occasionally sludgy and blasting but usually justs sounds like a drunken 500 pound hillbilly about to bash your skull in with a tire iron. Sick music, sick vocals. Eyehategod and Iron Monkey fans will enjoy this- be in a foul mood or be prepared to be put in one. Astounding.

AN ACE E-MAIL DAVE GOT FROM SOME YOUNG GUY

I don't ever contact people from (mp3.com) but I just had to say that was easily the worst couple of tunes I have ever heard. I don't want to be nasty but seriously, you need to think wether anyone is goin to buy that stuff. I am a big fan of rock but you have a style that is about 20 years old and the meloedy is appalling. You need to sort it out, you may think its really good but its hardly going to set the charts alight is it. I didn't see your photo but im assuming, middle aged men rocking out. Stop it, for fucks sake just stop it, you are shit, really really bad and not in a good way. You need to get jobs the lot of you playing loud is not going to get you a deal although i don't think anything you do could get you a deal, youll probably put it out yourself aw (?) most bands do with no talent. Please lads, I manage a lot of bands and i always tell them whats any good, you lot are appalling and the best thing to do would be to give up. Sorry to go on but its just really weird for me to think that you actually listen to your records and think people would buy that. Fuckin hell, anyway, thats my lot, sorry, ive never been so dazzled by a demos complete lack of originality and talent, youve got about 10 songs that sound exactly the same for gods sake. Please stop!
