i) Prophet Ibrahim prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive him as well as his parents, and the believers. (14:41)

[Note: We have been commanded to seek Mercy of Almighty Allah for our parents..(17:24)

ii) Prophet Noah prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive him as well as his parents, and the believing men and women. (71:28)

iii) The Angels seek forgiveness for the believers. (40:7;42:52)

iv) The believers seek forgiveness for themselves (3:193;2:201) as well as for their brothers…(59:10)

v) Almighty Allah has taught us many similar prayers (invocations) in the Holy Quran, as stated in its Verses such as mentioned below:

2:22:201,250,286;3:16,147,195,196;7:126,150,151,155;12:101;9:129;

15:46;17:24;18:10;23:97,98,109,118;27:19;46:15;60:5;66:8;etc.

vi)The Holy prophet permitted to perform Hajj on behalf of the living (aged) and dead parents. (Bukhari:1442,1754)

vi) The Holy Prophet said:

a) “ Allah (Almighty) will elevate a pious person to a higher grade in

Paradise (on the Day of Judgement). That person will submit:

‘ O’ My Lord! How did I get (such a high grade) ?’ Almighty

Allah will reply: ‘ Because of the forgiveness sought by your

son (for you).’” (Ahmad – Mishkat:2245)

b) “ The prayer of forgiveness is a gift for the dead from the

living.” (Mishkat:2246)

vii) The Holy Quran States:

“ Whosoever comes with a good deed, he shall have ten times of it; and whosoever comes with an evil deed, he shall have only similar to it…” (6:61)

(See also 2:261;10:27;25:70;27:89,90;28:84;40:40;42:40)

NOTE: Almighty Allah may multiply the reward of the deeds of the believers up to 700 times or more, as stated in 2:261.

Thus the grace of Almighty Allah on the believers in multiplying the reward of their deeds does not negate His Law of Justice. The basic condition for getting the Grace of Almighty Allah for the multiplication of reward is that the recipient should be a believer.
