2:130-141 MILLAT OF IBRAHIM, MUSLIM / ISLAM
2:130 “ Who then turns (or runs) away from the Millat (nation)
of (Prophet) Ibrahim, except the person, who makes a fool of
him self (such as a Jew or a Christian) [as Ibrahim, who was
their Prophet also, built Ka’ba, prayed for the coming of the
Last Prophet in Mecca, and gave a call for Hajj (22:27)]. We,
of course, selected him (i.e. Ibrahim); and he is surely amongst
the righteous (pious) in the World Hereafter.” [Note: Our Holy
Prophet
belongs to the Millat of Prophet Ibrahim (2:135;3:95;
22;78), as both the Prophets (Ibrahim & our Holy Prophet)
strongly preached their belief in the Oneness of Almighty Allah,
and commanded the people to perform Hajj in Mecca.]
2:131 “ When his Lord commanded him (i.e. Ibrahim) to submit,
he said (humbly): ‘ I submit myself to the Lord of the Universe.”
2:132 “ And it is this (religion of Islam) about which Ibrahim
advised his sons (Ismaeel & Isaac) and Yaqub (Jacob) (his
grand son i.e. the son of Isaac) (in these words): “ ‘O’ my sons!
Indeed Allah has selected for you the religion (of Islam); therefore, you must not die, but as Muslims.”
MUSLIM
Prophet Ibrahim, his sons (Ismaeel & Isaac), his grand son Yaqub, and his great grand son Yusuf were all Muslims & Prophets.(2:12;6:161;3:67;12:101) His other great grand sons were also Muslims (2:133). In fact, all the Prophets were Muslims. Our Holy Prophet was the First Muslim. (6:14,163;39:12). He was the Prophet even when Adam was between his body & soul (i.e. in the process of creation). (Tirmizi-Mishkat:5510). Almighty Allah has named us as Muslims.(22:78), and commands us not to die, but as Muslims. (3:102)
ISLAM
It is the religion of the Muslims i.e. Islam, (and not Judiasm or Christianity) which has been selected by Almighty Allah, as mentioned by Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) above in 2:132. In 5:3, Almighty Allah commands us that He has selected for us Islam as religion.
