iv) STAY AT ARAFAT: (9th Zil-Hajj): Proceed to Arafa’t from Mina after sunrise on 9th Zil-Hajj. Offer Zuhar & Asr prayers in Arafa’t (together, in the leadership of Imam in Masjid Namra, if possible). Stay in Arafa’t till sun-set on 9th Zil-Hajj. The Holy Prophet said: “The best prayer (Doa’) of Arafa’t is: ‘ La’ ilaha illallaho; wahdahu; la’ sharikalahu; lahul mulko walahul hamdo; wa huwa ala kulli shain qadeer.’ (Tirmizi, Malik-Mishkat:2482)

The Holy Prophet further said:

“Almighty Allah descends to the first heaven on the Day of Arafa’t (9th Zil-Hajj).” (Mishkat:2484).

Staying at Arafa’t is the Great Rukn (Tenet) and Fard (Farz) of Hajj. DO Not LEAVE ARAFAT BEFORE SUNSET; but just after sunset, leave Arafa’t for Muzdalfa, without offering Maghrib prayers.

v) Stay at Muzdalfa (during the night between 9th & 10th Zil-Hajj):

On reaching Muzdalfa, offer Maghrib & Isha prayers together with two separate Takbir. Only Fard Rakat are to be offered one after the other. Take rest. Do not offer Tahajjad prayers. (Mishkat 2440,2490)

In Muzdalfa, collect at least 7+21+21+=49 pebbles (of stone) equivalent to the size of the date seed, for striking the Devils (Jamarat) in Mina during the next three days of Rami ( i.e. Striking the Devils).

vi) The First Day of Rami (Striking the Big Devil) on 10th Zil-Hajj:

Strike the Big Devil (Jumra Kubra i.e Jumra Uqba) before noon on 10th Zil- Hajj by seven pebbles (collected from Muzdalfa) one after the other, reciting Allaho Akbar, while striking each pebble. After striking, do not stay there, nor pray, but rather quickly move from there. Only the Big Devil is to be struck on 10th Zil-Hajj. [NOTE: A believer submitted: ‘ I have stoned after zawa’l (noon) */evening**.’ The Holy Prophet replied: “ It does not matter.” (Bukhari:1648* ;Mishkat:2538**)]

vii) Animal slaughtering on 10th Zil-Hajj after striking the Big Devil:

Slaughter the animal(s) in Mina on 10th Zil-Hajj, after striking the Big Devil (Jumra Kubra).

The men should get their head shaved off / hair cut off partially.

Put off Ihram. Take bath, and wear the normal dress.
