3. On the same analogy, the human beings must treat each other with Mercy.
The Holy Prophet said:
“ Whosoever does not treat the people with
mercy, Allah does not treat him with mercy.”
(Al-Bukhari:6941).
The Holy Prophet while appointing the Governors of the Provinces,
instructed them to deal the people with leniency. (Al-Bukhari:5773,5774)
4.The Holy Prophet himself set a beautiful example of mercy and kindness, unparallel in the history of mankind, when he forgave his bitter enemies graciously on conquering the Holy City of Mecca, by addressing them:
“You are not to be blamed(punished) to-day, and you are all free to move
(with peace).”
(Ibn-e-Hashsham).
5.The Holy Prophet and his companions fought battles with the least bloodshed. The city of Mecca was captured without bloodshed. It has been reported that in about 80 battles fought and or organized by the Holy Prophet, about 250 muslims and 750 disbelievers were killed.
(Encyclopedia of Seerah by Afzalur-Rehman,Muslims School Trust,U.K.)
6. The Holy Prophet is the symbol of Allah’s Mercy.
Al-Quran states :
“ We have not sent you but as mercy for the entire universe.”(21:107)
We must , therefore , rejoice over the grant of such mercy(10:58,59) and be grateful to Allah, since He bestowed upon us His greatest Favor by sending His Last Prophet (3:164). Accordingly, we must pray to Allah excessively to shower His Blessings on the Holy Prophet, and any one who does so once ( sends Daru’d), Almighty Allah , in turn, gives that person 70 times of His Mercy. (Ahmad-Mishkat:874)
7. The Holy Prophet mentioned the pre-requisites of receiving Allah’s Mercy , as below:
a) “These are the kind hearted people on whom Allah bestows
His Mercy.”
(Al-Bukhari:7010)
b) “ Allah says: ‘ You show mercy down to the inhabitants of
earth and I (Allah) up above will bestow My Mercy on you.”
(Abu Daud, Tirmizi-Mishkat:4750)
c)Even the animals must be treated with mercy.
The Holy Prophet said:
“ A woman was sent to Hell because she tied up a cat that died of
hunger, as she did not allow it to move freely in search of food.”
(Al-Bukhari:3295)
