2:71 "He (then) told them that Allah commanded them to find the
cow from which no work had been taken such that the cow
neither ploughed the land, nor watered the crops, and was in a
perfect condition without any spot. They (then) replied that
he pointed, of course, towards the right (cow). They then
slaughtered that cow (so hesitantly) that they did not look
like (slaughtering).”
2:72 “ And (remember) when you killed a person, and blamed one
another, but Allah exposed whom you tried to conceal.”
2:73 “ We, thus, commanded you to strike the deceased with the
piece of meat of that cow. (The deceased got the life again.)
Verily, in this way, Allah will give life to the dead (on the Day
of Judgement); and, thus, He shows His Signs so that you may
understand.”

1. With their excuse finding attitude and asking repeated questions, the Jews received multiple restrictions, and thus they lost their freedom of choice.
2. The Companions of our Holy Prophet were warned not to ask him such absurd questions, since in that case they would have been deprived of their faith (ima’n) .(2:108) (Also see 5:101)
3. The HOLY PROPHET WARNED:
“…The previous people were destroyed for asking their Prophets
excessive questions, and also due to the differences between them.
When I order you to do a thing, do it to your capacity; and when
I forbid you from something, abstain from it.”(Muslim-Mishkat:2391)
