NOTE:
It is interesting to note here that Sa’d bin Abi Waqas, a great General of Caliph Umar, jumped into the deep flooded river Tigris with his army as well as horses, and conquered Mada’in Capital of Persia.{See the Noble Quran- (at its end under the topic: ‘The Call to Jihad’ See also Ibn e- Khaldun [under the heading ‘the event of crossing Tigris, and the conquest of Mada’in (the Capital of Persia).]}
2:51-54 WORSHIPPING THE CALF
2:51 "And when We took promise from Musa (Moses) of
forty days (so as to spend on the mountain for getting
the Torah), you then, after he was away, started
worshipping the calf; thus you proved yourselves as
‘zalimun’ (disbelievers, disobedient, criminals).”
2:52 "Then after that, We forgave you, so that you may be
grateful.”
2:53 "And remember when We gave Musa the Book (Torah)
and the Standard (for identifying the right from the wrong),
so that you are guided.”
2:54 "And when Musa said to his people, ‘ You have done an
injustice against yourselves (or committed a horrible
crime) by worshipping the calf; you must, therefore,
repent before your Creator, and kill yourselves (i.e. kill
amongst you who worshipped the calf). He (Allah) then
forgave you. Certainly, He accepts repentance much and
is Most Merciful.” ( See also 2:92;7:138-152;29:40)
