3:180 NIGGARDLINESS
3:180 “ Those, who show niggardliness (in spending) that Allah has
granted them from His Grace, they must not even conceive that it is
good for them, but instead it is worst for them. The articles (of wealth) in
which they show niggardliness, will be wrapped around their necks (like
a snake) on the Day of Judgement. And (note that) all that is in the
heavens and earth belongs to Allah only. And Allah is All –Aware of
what they do”. * (4:37;9:34,35;57:24)

* In Surah At-Tauba, a warning has been issued:
“ …To those, who hoard gold and silver and don’t spend it in the Way
of Allah – give them the news of a painful torment. On the Day of
Judgement, this (wealth) will be inflamed in the Fire of Hell and then
it will be stamped on their foreheads, on their sides as well as on their
backs, and (it will be said that) this is what you had been hoarding for
yourselves. Taste then (the torment of Hell (because of ) what you had
been hoarding”. (9:34,35)
The Holy Prophet
said:
a)
“ Whosoever has not paid zakat, his wealth will be converted into a
bald -headed snake, having two black dots in his eyes on the Day of
Judgement, who will bite the ends of mouth of that person, after
rolling around his neck, and will say (to him): “ I am your wealth. I
am your treasure”. (Bukhari:1338)
b) “ Allah has made unlawful to you:
i) Disobeying (your) mother.
ii) Niggardliness.
iii) Begging.
iv) Burying the daughters alive.
And Allah has made undesirable:
i) Discussing / talking too much,
ii) Asking excessive questions excessively
iii) Wasting wealth. (Bukhari:5630)
c) “ There are the two worst aspects of a man:
i) Extreme niggardliness
ii) Extreme cowardice. (Abu Daud – Mishkat:1780)
d) The two aspects (as below) cannot be pooled (bracketed) together in a believer:
Niggardliness & immorality. (Tirmizi – Mishkat:1778)
