17. Abu Huraira narrated that a wolf drew near a shepherd and seized a goat. The shepherd went after the wolf till he snatched the goat from his mouth. The wolf then climbed an hill and sat down there with his tail kept in between his legs. The wolf addressed the shepherd (like an human being): ‘ I intended to have my livelihood (food) which Allah gave me and I caught it, but you snatched that from me”. The man (shepherd) said: ‘ By Allah! I have never observed such a strange thing that a wolf speaks (like an human being)’. The wolf replied: ‘ There is another strange thing than this, and that is a man staying in between the date-palm trees, and who is not a ‘Ka’hin’ (false foreteller), informs what has happened and what is going to happen’.

Abu Huraira stated that the man (shepherd) was a Jew. He came down the Holy Prophet, stated the event, and accepted Islam. The Holy Prophet confirmed the event… (Sharah As-Sunnah –Mishkat:5673)

[The above event has also been reported in the Noble Quran.]

18. Sahil narrated that in a battle…there was a man amongst the Muslims, who (fought quite bravely) (and) did not spare any ‘mushrik’(polytheist) without killing him…It was said: ‘Allah’s Messenger! That person has done such a (wonderful) deed that no one has done’.

The Holy Messenger replied: “ He is, of course, of the Fire (of Hell)”.

&Then a man followed that (brave) person…, found that he was wounded…and finally he killed himself with his own sword. The man (who witnessed that event) came down to the Holy Prophet and submitted: ‘ I testify that you are, indeed, the Messenger of Allah’.(Bukhari:3970)

19. After the ‘Battle of Badr’, Umair bin Wahb was sitting with Safwan bin Ummayya (in Mecca) at a place called’Hajr’…Umair said to Safwan: ‘ Had I not been under debt and had there been not my family… I would have gone to Muhammad (peace be upon him) for killing him’. Safwan said: ‘ I will pay off your debt and I take the responsibility for supporting your family so long as they live’. Umair told him to keep that conversation secret. Umair then sharpened and poisoned his sword and proceeded to Madina. Umar bin Khattab recognized him as a spy,… He dragged him by his neck, … and brought him with his sword to the Holy Messenger.

Allah’s Messenger said to Umair: “ What has brought you here?”.

Umair replied: ‘… To get a captive released. Please be kind to him’.

Allah’s Messenger then said: “ Why then this sword is hanging

by your neck?”.

Umair said: ‘Allah may destroy such swords. They were of no use to us’.

…The Holy Prophet then exposed him, by saying:

“ You were sitting with Safwan (in Mecca) at Hajr…You said to him:

‘ Had I not been under debt and had there not been my family, I would

have come out to kill Muhammad (peace be upon him)’. Then

Safwan took the responsibility of your debt and your family on the

condition that you will kill me…”

On hearing that, Umair said: ‘ I testify that you are Allah’s Messenger.…This secret was between Safwan and me only’.

20. Ans narrated that a scribe (i.e. writer) for the

Holy Prophet reverted from Islam and joined ‘Mushrikeen’ (polytheists). The Holy Prophet foretold that the earth would not accept him. Ans then reported that Abu Talha informed him that he visited the place where that man died away and found his body lying outside the grave. Abu Talha then asked the people living there about that man and was informed that they tried to bury him many a times, but was not accepted by earth.

(Bukhari & Muslim – Mishkat: 5644)

21. Ali narrated that the Holy Prophet said:

in the cities’. (Ibn Majah – Mishkat:3713)

22. Abu Huraira narrated that when Khaiber was conquered, the poisoned meat of goat was presented to the Holy Prophet as a gift (by the Jews). The Holy Prophet ordered that the Jews living there be brought to him. Accordingly, they all assembled there. The Holy Prophet asked them… different questions…He gradually and psychologically brought them to a point where they had no alternative but to admit that they did poison the meat of goat…

(See the full text of above ‘Hadith’ in Bukhari:2998)

23. “ Sa’d bin Abi Waqas narrated: “ I fell sick on Hajj-a-tul-Wida and the Holy Prophet visited with me to inquire about my health. I was on the verge of death due to my disease…The Holy Prophet stated…I am hopeful (sure) that you will survive so that some people (i.e. Muslims) will be benefited because of you, while others (i.e. the non –believers) will be harmed…” (See the full text of ‘Hadith’ in Bukhari:4147)

Note: The Saying of the Holy Prophet became true, when Sa’d bin Abi Waqas conquered Persia during the time of Caliph Umar, and captured the treasures of Kisra.

24. Abdullah bin Masud narrated …that the Holy Prophet said:

“ Indeed, every one of you is deposited for creation in the womb of his mother for the first 40 days. Then it stays there as ‘Alaqa’ for another 40 days. After that it stays as ‘Mudgha’ for further 40 days. ȂThen soul is breathed into thebaby…” (Bukhari:3036)

[Note: The Holy Quran stated the stages of creation of a baby in the womb of his mother in 23:13,14. The Holy Prophet indicated the exact time period of such stages, as above.]
