THE BELIEVERS CHASED THE ENEMY:

3:172 “Those, who submitted (to the Commandment of) Allah and the

Messenger, after they were seriously wounded (and chased the

enemy to a far off distance) – for those of them who performed good

deeds and feared Allah, there is a great reward”.

3:173 “ They are those to whom, when the people (hypocrites) stated

that the enemy had surely gathered (to attack) you and, therefore, they

should fear them, it only added to their belief and they replied: ‘ Allah is

Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Supporter”. * [33:22]

* When the enemy left hurriedly without defeating the Muslims, the Holy Prophet took the initiative and pursued the enemy. He marched ahead with a force of 450 men to a place called Hamra al-Asad, about ten miles out of Madina. His face, lower lip and the right shoulder were severely wounded, but he did not care about his wounds and pursued the enemy. He encamped at Hamra al-Asad. Here he received a message from Abu Sufyan that he was planning to return to Madina for attacking the Muslims again. The Holy Prophet replied: “ Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Supporter”. [These are the same words, as mentioned in 3:173 above.]

At Hamra al-Asad, the Holy Prophet ordered that fires be burnt at five hundred places during the night. When the fire was burnt, it was quite visible to the enemy from a long distance. Accordingly, when Abu Sufyan heard of the Muslim army following him, he left quickly for Mecca. Thus the tactical surprise move of the Holy Prophet averted the delicate and grave situation of Uhud.

3:174 “ So they returned with the Bounty from Allah and with His Grace,

without being harmed. And they sought the Pleasure of Allah. And, of

course, Allah is the All –Owner of Great Bounty”. [5:15;33:46]

3:175 “ It is, of course, Satan (devil) who frightens you from his

supporters. So don’t fear them and fear Me alone, if you are the (true)

believers”. [2:150;5:3;4:76]

3:176 “ And (Holy Prophet ) let not those, who run towards

disbelief, grieve you. They definitely can’t harm Allah, at all.

Allah has decided not to give them any share in the Hereafter,

and for them, there is a great torment”.

3:177 “ Indeed, those who purchased disbelief in lieu of belief, they can

never harm Allah, at all, and for them there is a painful torment”.

3:178 “And the non-believers must not even conceive that the delayed-

action from Our side towards punishing them is good for them. We

defer it only so that they may add to their sins. And for them is a

disgraceful torment”.
