3:96-102 KA’bA & PILGRIMAGE
3:96 “ In fact, the very First House (Kaba / Masjid Hara’m) ever
established for (the entire) mankind (for worshipping) is that which is
situated in Mecca - the blessed and guidance for the entire universe.”
[27:91;29:67;42:7;48:24]
* The Very First Mosque (Masjid) ever built for (worshipping) is Masjid
Hara’m. Masjid Aqsa was built after 40 years, as the Holy Prophet
said.

3:97 “ In it (i.e. Kaba / Masjid Hara’m) are clear signs particularly the
Muqa’m-e-Ibrahim; and whosoever enters into it, he is secured. And on
mankind lies the duty from Allah to perform the Hajj of this House, being
obligatory to those, who can afford towards it. And whosoever
disbelieves, then, indeed, Allah does not care for the
entire universe.”
PERFORMING UMRAH & HAJJ

UMRAH:
i) Wear Ihra’m, after taking bath. Ihram is the wearing of two white unstitched garments (each for the upper and the lower portion of the body. Keep head uncovered. The woman should use the normal dress with head covered, but face uncovered. Observe the restrictions of Ihra’m (i.e. no perfume, no hair or nail cutting, no sex, no fighting etc.). Offer 2 Rakat. Recite Talbiya:
“ Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik; Labbaika La Sharika Laka
Labbaik; Innal Hamda Wannemata Laka Walmulk; La
Sharika Laka.”
[Wearing of Ihra’m is ‘Fard’.]
[Note: In Umrah, the recitation of Talbiya is stopped before start- ing the Twa’f of Ka’ba, whereas in case of Hajj, it is stopped before Rami (i.e. before striking the big devil on the first day of Rami falling on10th Zil Hajj)]
On conducting Twa’f of Ka’ba, the men should keep their right shoulder uncovered by putting one side of the garment of Ihram on the left shoulder, while taking it out through the right arm pit. The right shoulder must be covered, after making 7 rounds of Kaba.
ii) a) Conduct twa’f of Kaba by starting from the black stone on kissing it or pointing towards it, in case of rush, by saying ‘Allah-o-Akbar’. Men should move quickly by jerking shoulders during the first three rounds. [Twa’f of Ka’ba is Fard’.]
b) Recite during twa’f: “ Subhanallahay wal hamdu lillahay wa la’ ilaha illa Allah-o wa Allah-o Akbar”.
c) Recite from ‘Rukn Yamani to the Black Stone, as follows:
“Allahumma inni asalukal afwa wal a’fiyata fid-dunya wal
akhirah”.
“Rabbana Aatina Fid-Dunya Hasanatun Wa Fil A’khirati
Hasanatun Waqina Aza’b-un-Na’r”.
iii) Stick to Multazim that lies between the black stone & Kaba’s door.
iv) Offer two Rakat at Maqam-e-Ibrahim. [It is ‘Wa’jib’.]
v) Drink Zam Zam water, while standing. [It is ‘Wajib’.]
vi) Perform Sai at As-Safa & Al-Marwa (starting from As-Safa).
Traverse the track from As-Safa to Al-Marwa. Traverse 7 times
the track, ending at Al-Marwa. [Sai is ‘Wajib’.]
vii) Men should get their heads shaved off or hair cut off partially.
[It is ‘Wajib’.]
viii) Put off Ihram. Take bath. Umrah has been completed.
