3:81,82 GREAT PROMISE - BELIEF IN THE LAST PROPHET

3:81 “And (remember) when Allah took the Covenant from* the Prophets

(and through them from their followers) commanding: ‘ (Act upon)

whatever I give you from the Book and wisdom, and then when comes

to you a Messenger (Muhammad** -peace be upon him) confirming

(the Book) that is with you, you must believe in him and assist him (in his

mission).’ (After that) Allah said: ‘ Do you commit (to it) and take up the

great responsibility placed upon you (that you will not deviate from it).’

They submitted: ‘We do commit.’ Allah (then) commanded: ‘ Then be a

witness (to it) and I am (also) with you amongst the witnesses.’”

* See Zia-ul-Quran under 3:81.

** See the Noble Quran under (3:81).

3:82 “ Then, who so ever deviates after this, they are ‘Fasiqeen’ (i.e. the rebels and disobedient). * [See also 2:27]

The next Verses (3:83-85) shatter the belief of the People of the Book by stating: “ Are they seeking a religion other than Islam (which is the religion of their Prophets as well of Muhammad (peace be upon him). In fact, the religion of the entire universe is Islam (i.e. submission to Allah). Why are they wandering hither and thither in search of a new religion? In 3:85, a strict warning has been issued that who so ever likes a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him [since Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Prophet of the entire universe till the Day of Judgement.
