II) Killing the people of Justice:
It has been stated in 3:21 above that the Jews killed those also, who ordered justice amongst them. This was a great cruelty (zulm), since those, who do justice have been greatly honored by Almighty Allah.
The Holy Prophet
said in this connection:
a) “ Indeed, the most dear and near… to Allah amongst the people
on the Day of Judgement is the just ruler (i.e. Im’am Aadil)…”
(Tirmizi Mishkat:3533)
b) “ Indeed, those who do justice, they before Allah will be on the
raised enclosed platform (Minmber) of light, staying on the Right
Hand of Ar-Rehman (Allah); and (note that) both of His Hands are
the Right Hands. These are the people, who do justice, while giving
their verdict and also while treating their family members.”
(Muslim Mishkat:3519)
c) “Seven types of persons (as below) will be under the Shadow of
(the Throne of) Allah on the Day (of Judgement), when there will
be no other shadow:
i)The ruler doing justice (Ima’m Aadil) [at the top of the list],
ii)…… to (vii) ….” (Bukhari:629)
Islam lays down a very high standard of justice, not traceable in any Law of the world. Even the enmity of nations / people or the blood relation can not affect the Islamic Law of Justice. Al-Quran states:
1. “ And (beware!) the enmity of a nation must not instigate you to
set aside justice. Establish justice since it is quite close to (the
quality of) ‘Taqwa’ (i.e fear of Allah)).” (5:8)
2. “ O’ you who believe! Stand steadfastly for justice giving (your
verdict or) witness for Allah, even it is against yourselves and
against your parents as well as (your) relatives…” (4:135)
3. “ And when you speak (while giving your verdict or witness),
you must establish justice, even if your near relative is involved
…” (6:152)
4. “ And when you give your judgement between the people, you must
do it with justice…” (4:58)
5. “ Indeed, Allah commands you to do justice…(16:90)
The Background for the next Verses: The Jews had been trying to kill the Prophets as well as those who ordered justice amongst the people. These crimes were so horrible that they could not be left as unpunished. Again, the Jews took great pride in developing a false hypothesis that the Fire of Hell would not touch them, but for a few days. Consequently, they committed horrible crimes, as mentioned above, and did not care for the Last Prophet
and the last Book, whom they recognized and for whom they had been waiting for a long time. The result was that they were punished, and the leadership of the world snatched from them and was handed over to the Companions of the Holy Prophet
. With this background in view, now study 3:23 to 3:27.
