3:21–22 HORRIBLE CRIMES OF THE JEWS

3:21 “ Verily, those (Jews) who refuted Allah’s Verses(Commandments,

Signs etc.), and (tried to) kill the Prophets as well as those who ordered

justice amongst mankind - give them the happy news of a painful

torment.”

3:22 “ These are the people, whose (good) deeds have been destroyed

in this world as well as in the Hereafter. And they will have no one

to support them.”

[Note: The prediction of the Holy Quran became true, when the Jews were severely defeated by the Holy Prophet and his Companions in the various battles. The allies of the Jews like the Quraish and various other tribes of Arabia did not dare to help them.]

I) Killing the Prophets:

The Jews tried to kill the Prophets of Almighty Allah.

A) The Holy Quran states:

a) “ And disgrace as well as misery was thrust upon them (i.e. on the

Jews). This was because of the fact that they had been refuting

Allah’s Verses as well as killing the Prophets unjustly (and

baselessly). This was (the revenge that we took from them) due to

their disobedience wherein they crossed all limits.” (2:61)

b) “ The disgrace was thrust upon them (i.e. the Jews) where ever they

went, except that they held the Rope of Allah (i.e. obeyed His

Commandments) and entered into an agreement with the people

(for protecting them). And they earned the punishment of Allah,

and misery was thrust upon them. This was due to the fact

they had been refuting Allah’s Verses and killing the Prophets

unjustly (and baselessly)…” (3:112)

c)“ Thus, because of :

i) breaking their commitments (made with Allah),

ii) refuting Allah’s Verses (Commandments),

iii) killing the Prophets unjustly, and

iv) stating (proudly) that their hearts were sealed – no,

instead it is Allah, Who sealed their hearts because of their

(persistent) disbelief. Thus, they don’t believe, excepting a

few of them.” (4:155)

B) The Jews tried to kill Prophet Easa (Jesus), but failed. [See 4:157-159]

C) The Jews also tried to kill our Holy Prophet, but failed. Here below is the event stated in Sahih Al-Bukhari, in this connection:

Abu Huraira narrated that after the city of Khyber was conquered, some poisoned meat of goat was presented to the Holy Prophet as a gift (by the Jews). The Holy Prophet ordered that the Jews living there be brought to him. When they assembled there, the Holy Prophet asked them successive questions and gradually as well as psychologically brought them to a point where they had no alternative but to admit that they did poison the meat that they presented to him. Let us see: The Holy Prophet said to the Jews (who assembled there): “ I want to ask you something. Will you tell me the truth?” The Jews replied affirmatively. The Holy Prophet then said to them: “ Who was your (fore) father? They named some one. The Holy Prophet said: “ You are telling a lie. Your father was some one else.” The Jews admitted that he was correct. The Holy Prophet then said: “ I ask you another thing. Will you tell me correctly?” The Jews replied: ‘ If we tell a lie, you will (surely) know just as you have known our (fore) father’. The Holy Prophet then asked: “ Who are the people of Hell?’ They replied: ‘ We will stay in the Hell for some time, but after that you (Muslims) will stay there after us. The Holy Prophet said: “ Keep away. By Allah! We will never go to Hell after you.” The Holy Prophet then said: “ If I ask you a question, will you speak the truth.” They replied affirmatively. The Holy Prophet, accordingly, said: “ Have you poisoned this meat of goat?” They (straightaway) admitted. The Holy Prophet asked: “ Why did you do it (after all)?” They replied: ‘We thought that if you are a false Prophet, we will get rid of you; but if you are a true Prophet, you will not be harmed by it.’ (Bukhari:2998)
