COMMENTARY ON AAL-E-IMRAN

CHAPTER 3

[In the name of Allah, the Most Magnificent, the Most Merciful.]

3:2 TAUHEED - THE ONENESS OF ALLAH)

3:2 “Allah – there is no God, but He (Allah) alone – the Ever-

Living and the Sustainer of the Universe.*

(See 2:225 & 3:18)

*[Note: It has been reported in Zia-ul-Quran under 3:2 that at least first 80 Verses of this Chapter were revealed, when a delegation from the Christian tribe of Najra’n was discussing with our Holy Prophet about their beliefs (such as ‘Trinity of God’). Accordingly, this chapter starts with the Oneness of Allah. Note that the Christians believe:

i) Jesus Christ is God (5:17,72)

ii) Jesus Christ is son of God (9:30)

iii) Allah is the third of three (gods) (5:73) i.e. Allah, Jesus and the holy Spirit.

The ‘Son of God’ is such a horrible false belief of the Christians that Chapeter No. 19 (Surah Maryam) of the Holy Quran states:

“ It is quite likely that the heavens are torn up, the earth is split

up, and the mountains fall down into pieces. This is because,

they (i.e. the Christians) assign a son (or children) to Rehman

(Allah).” (19:90,91)

(See also: 3:59; 4:171,172; 5:17,72-75; 9:30,31; 19:88-95)]

3:3&3:4 THE MESSENGERSHIP OF MUHAMMAD

(PEACE BE UPON HIM)

3:3 “ He (Allah) sent down the Book (Al-Quran)* to you (Holy Prophet)

with truth, confirming the Scripture revealed before; and He sent

down the Torah & Injeel (i.e. the Gospel)

3:4 “ before, for the guidance of the people and sent down the Standard

(Al-Quran). Thus, for those, who refute the Verses of Allah, there is

a severe punishment for them. And Allah is All- Mighty and All-

Powerful in taking revenge.”*

[The next Verses 3:5 & 3:6 state the proofs for the ‘Oneness of Allah’.]

3:5&3:6 THE PROOFS FOR THE ONENESS OF ALLAH

3:5 “ And, indeed, nothing is hidden from Allah that is in the heaven

and earth.”*

*[This Verse provides a proof about the One-ness of Allah and rejects

the belief of the Christians about Jesus as their God.]

3:6 “ It is He (Allah) (alone), Who designs you in the wombs of (your)

mothers, as He pleases. There is no God, but He (Allah) (alone)

- All Powerful, All Wise.”*

* [This Verse also rejects the belief of the Christians about Jesus as God.]
