Note: The next and the Last Verse of Al-Baqarah states the great and the humble prayers (invocations) of the believers. These also indicate the great responsibility entrusted upon them in which the previous people failed. These are also the prayers for seeking forgiveness from Almighty Allah about the errors and blunders committed, while discharging such a responsibility for the cause of Islam.
2:286 THE SPLENDID PRAYER
“ Allah does not entrust the burden (of responsibility) to any one but according to his capacity (and capability). He will have (the reward of good deeds) which he did; and he will get ( the punishment for the evil deeds) which he earned.”
“ Our Lord! Do not hold us responsible, if we forget or err.”
“ Our Lord! Do not burden us which You imposed on the people before us.”
“Our Lord! Do not burden us that we cannot bear. Pardon us; forgive us, and have Mercy on us. You are our Supporter, so grant us victory over the non-believers.”

The following points may be noted:
1. The above Verse indicates that the type of responsibility entrusted by Almighty Allah exhibits the greatness of the people.
2. A great responsibility has been entrusted upon this Ummah. Accordingly, the great and the splendid Verses (2:285,286) have been granted to them for seeking forgiveness and support of Almighty Allah. Every word of the Verses exhibit a great responsibility. Accordingly, the errors and blunders may be committed, for which forgiveness and support of Almighty Allah at every step of struggle for the cause of Islam is needed. The above last two Verses of A-Baqarah are, a great source of great strength for us.
3. The above two Verses of invocations were never given (taught) to any other Prophet before (Mishkat:2022), and have been granted to the Last Prophet (and his Ummah) from the treasures lying underneath the Throne of Almighty Allah (Darmi Mishkat:2069).
