5. Jabir bin Abdullah narrated that a man submitted on the Day of the conquest of Mecca: ‘ Allah’s Messenger! I have committed ‘Nazr’ for Allah that if Allah grants you victory over Mecca, I will offer two ‘Rakat (prayers) in Bait-ul-Muqaddas.’ The Holy Messenger ordered (him): “Offer prayers here (in Mecca).” The man asked again. The Holy Messenger ordered him again to pray there (in Mecca). The man asked thrice. The Holy Messenger (then) said: “ You are capable (dignified) at this time (to offer your prayers here).” (Abu Daud, Darmi – Mishkat:3292)

2:271 SPENDING OPENLY OR SECRETLY

“ If you give your ‘Sadaqaat’ (charity) openly, it is a good thing; but if you keep it secret and give it to the poor, it is better for you, and Allah will wipe off some of your sins (because of it). And Allah is All Aware of what you do.”

Note 1: The following person will be amongst the seven persons, who will be under the Shadow of Almighty Allah (on the Day of Judgement):

The person, who gives charity such that his left hand does not

know what his right hand gives.” (Bukhari:629)

Note 2: It is better to openly spend the obligatory ‘Sadaqaat’ (Zakat, Ushr, Fitrana), and secretly spend optional ‘Sadaqaat’ (charity). Similar is the case with all obligatory optional deeds. (Tafheem-ul-Quran under 2:271) (See also Zia-ul-Quran under 2:271.)

2:272 THE GUIDANCE

“ It is not, at all, your responsibility (Holy Messenger) to put the people on the Right Track (as you have just to convey the Message of Allah, distinguishing the Right from the Wrong), and it is Allah Who guides whom He wills. And whatever you spend from your wealth, it is only for your betterment; and you spend (not but ) to seek the Pleasure of Allah. And whatever you spend from your wealth, it will be totally paid back to you, and no injustice will be inflicted upon you.”
