** Fighting & Differing:
The second part of the above Verse 2:253 states that had Allah willed, the people would neither have fought nor differed. It is because of the liberty granted by Almighty Allah that the people differ and fight on matters relating to their faith and religion. This Verse, therefore, exerts a crushing blow on the concept that the people are helpless in the choice of their faith.
The Holy Quran states:
“ They (i.e the non-believers) will never stop fighting you,
unless they revert you from your religion…” (2:120)
The Holy Prophet
said:
“ A group of people from my Ummah will continue to dominate
for ever till the Commandment of Allah (about the Day of
Judgement) comes, and they will still be dominating.”
(Bukhari:7021) (See also Bukhari:3441,3432)
( Note: The next Verse relates to spending in the Way of Allah (i.e. for theCause of Islam)).
